25/02/2008 20:25:29 South East League Round 3 @ The Gold Coast. On A blustery Sunday in the Gold Coast we were up against Youghal in the South East League and looking to build on the 7 points we collected in Youghal Golf Club lat week. In the first match we had Graham O'Reilly & Denis Cronin. They played some great golf and came out of it with a comprehensive 5&4 win which seemed to set the tone for the day. The second match of Mossie Walsh & Tadhg Harrington also played well and won 4&3.Well done and Thanks to Tadhg for travelling from Dublin on Sunday morning and to Mossie for struggling on with a sore back. The third match in the Bruen section had Brian Morrissey & Stephen Kearney run out 5&3 winners. In the Purcell section we Des Cleary and Maurice Cliffe who after a good competitive game lost 3&1. In the second match we have our President Sean Wade and Laurence Boland. They played well but in the end got a somewhat fortunate halve on the 18th In the third and final match we had Jack Elstead & Larry Fahey. These two seemed to be always in control and ran out winners by the margin of 4&2. We took 9 of the 12 points available which keeps us there or thereabouts. This coming weekend we are in Mitchelstown on Sunday and hopefully we will have the teams on the website by Wednesday evening. |
