Round 4 of the south-east league took place today at Mitchelstown Golf Club.

We were up against our neighbours from the Gold Coast and we had a very friendly but fiercely competitive match.

First out in the Bruen section we had John Gough & Martin Lynch. The south east league is nothing new to them and they used their experience to finish off with a 4&3 victory.

The Second match we had Graham O'Reilly & JP Hayes . After been 5 down after 8 they fought back superbly to get to 1 down after 15 . They eventually lost 3&1 but they showed true fighting spirit.

The third match was nip and tuck all the way with Brian Morrissey & Des Cleary coming away with a Loss of 3 down.

In the Purcell section it was quite a performance much the same s the Bruen section had last weekend.

The first pairing we had out was Vice-Captain Noel Brennan & Brian Murphy. The were always in control of the match and won 3&2.

The Second match consisted of Larry Fahey and Laurence Boland. After a shaky start they put the pressure on and ran out comfortable winners by 5&4.

In the last match Michael Corkery and Tony Power capped off a fine performance by the Purcell Section with a 3&2 victory.

As it stands now Fota Have 33 points
Dungarvan Have 28 points
Mitchelstown have 27 points and Lismore have 25 points.

We have to get 9 points next week against Fota in Fota next weekend to win the section if Mitchelstown get less than 10 points.

Anyone selected for the game in Fota has to be down in fota For 7.30 AM at the latest as we are first out at 8AM
