Winter League : That awful bad weather! Yes, the Enright Eurospar league was scuttled again this week, due to frost on Friday night/Saturday morning. Some brave souls got their scores in on Thursday, but our Course Manager Anthony Morrissey wisely flexed his muscles on Saturday morning, and advised that the course be closed. By Sunday the frost had gone, making way for a deluge on Saturday night/Sunday morning. The course was very wet underfoot on Sunday, and many braved the wind and rain to get their sixteen holes played. There was some confusion the previous week when one hardy soul pushed hard for his Sunday score to count in the league, despite the fact that he knew that the league had been called off. Nice one, Noel, but it didn’t work!

Junior Golf: David Hayes, JP Hayes and Donal Williams’ efforts with the juveniles, with regular competitions and trips to the driving range at Carrick-on-Suir, have paid off, with Jack Leacy and Colm O’ Hare joining Gary Hurley of West Waterford and fifteen others on the Provincial Coaching Panel. We wish the lads well as they attend the regular sessions to be provided by the Munster Branch. I am glad to hear too that Roger O’ Connor, Bruen Manager, intends to give the eligible youths a run in the South-East League, which is due to start on Sat 14th February.
