AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
There is an abundance of golf for ladies and gents taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.  From Thursday 30th July onwards for every day there are open singles competitions for gents continuing until Bank Holiday Monday.  The ladies have open singles days on Saturday and Monday. TOM DALY CATERING CLUB MIXED FOURSOMES
On a day interrupted by thunder and lightening the men and ladies were out in force for the Club mixed foursomes kindly sponsored by our resident caterer Tom Daly.  The elements obviously didn’t deter Donal Verling and Maeve O’ Riordan ran out eventual winners with 731/2. In close second were Sean de Paor and Peg Heneberry with 74.

Ladies, please be aware that this competition can be played on any date between now and 15th Aug, entry fee is €5 per person. The highest scoring pair will play the final in Little Island G.C.

ENRIGHTS EUROSPAR LADIES 3 CLUB COMPETITION
This competition will be held in West.Waterford Golf Club on Thursday 6th Aug, please support this event.

ILGU AA JUNIOR/SENIOR FOURSOMES SEMI-FINALS
Dungarvan was host to this prestigious event on Sunday 26th July, many of the players competing were inter-provincial and scratch golfers. There were many practice rounds played in the last couple of weeks, and they were full of praise for the course and clubhouse facilities. We are indeed delighted to have such fine golfers in our midst, and hope they will give us a return visit.

CONDOLANCES
The Ladies Club would like to convey their sympathy to our Past Captain Bernie Hayes on the recent death of her brother, may he rest in peace.

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES
The presentation of prizes for Sat.25th will take place on Monday 3rd Aug.

JUNIOR NOTES.
Last week saw the juniors travel to Tramore for junior open day and Eoghan Bergin was best with 38pts. This week we travel to both Waterford Castle and Faithlegg. Numbers for Faithlegg are limited to ten, so selection was based on the results from the Allrounder trophy. Eoin Bergin, Jason Nagle, Gabriel Leacey, Ronan O’Neill, Conor O’Dwyer, Kevin Walsh, Dion Ryan, Philip Coffey , Philip Cashin and David Collins have been selected. Contact David for details.

ALL ROUNDER TROPHY
One of our major tournaments was played last week with a great turnout. The all rounder trophy was won by Eoghan Bergin with a super 65 nett. Jason Nagle continued his good form to claim second with a 66. Gabriel Leacey won the gross with a superb 73. Category prizes went to Michael Maher and Stephen Reid.

CONGRATS
Congrats to Junior members Kevin Walsh, Dion Ryan and Michael Maher on their recent victories. Michael won the EP Kiely memorial trophy, Kevin won the open Monday singles and Dion won the Paul I Power cup. Is it a coincidence that all three were involved in the winter coaching at Tinhalla? Maybe some adults will be joining us this winter!

MATCHPLAYS
The Baumann scratch matchplay and junior matchplay draws have been made and posted on the junior notice board. Please play matches as soon as possible. Both are prestigious titles with Des Baumann again sponsoring the scratch and club stalwarts Tony Brady and John Gough sponsoring the juniors.

COACHING
Coaching continues every week under the watchful eye of club professional and county coach David Hayes. The elite panel resumes on Friday at 3.30 and beginner/improver coaching on Saturday at 3pm

VOLUNTARY COURSE WORK
Voluntary work on the course continues every Tuesday evening at 7.30. As juniors enjoy more playing time, it is important that we support this effort.

HANDICAPS
Special thanks to Des Cleary for his work with junior handicaps. With so many competitions we are keeping Des very busy. With intensive coaching our juniors are improving rapidly and more juniors will be joining the members board.
