ANOTHER GREAT YEAR !
The Management AGM was all up-beat, with Treasurer Tadhg Sheehan reporting that, despite a downturn in the economy, Dungarvan Golf Club is holding its own so far. “With careful management of funds, and our well-maintained course attracting visitors throughout the year to supplement member usage, we are doing fine; let’s hope it continues” he said. Tadhg gave a comprehensive summary of income and outgoings, and the discussions that followed highlighted the interest of the many members who attended the AGM. The proposal to offer an attractive rate of subscription to newcomers was welcome, as were the talks on all aspects of the course, catering and bar. Brendan O’ Kennedy was re-elected Chairman, as were President Frank Lloyd, Treasurer Tadhg and Secretary Marianne Mulcahy. The Management Committee also includes Captains Ina Howard-Considine and Des Cleary, along with Vice-Captains Mary Phelan and Roger O’ Connor. It was heartening to see such a fine attendance of Ladies and Gents at a meeting which was preceded by the annual Mass in the clubhouse in memory of deceased members, celebrated as usual by Rev. Fr. Richard Doherty.

MEN’S CLUB AGM
It was over in record time, a reflection of the high satisfaction rating and the positive air which imbued all Men’s Club activity throughout the year. However, there was plenty of discussion among the many who attended, on competitions, handicaps, course matters, team events and many more topics.Treasurer Vincent Hayes gave a resumé, with detail where necessary, of the financial affairs of the club, and showed a fine credit balance after a very successful year. Secretary Maurice also presented a detailed report of all the committee’s activities, and outgoing Captain Noel spoke of his appreciation for all the collaborative work done on the course and in the clubhouse by volunteers, staff and franchisees. Des Cleary was elected Captain for 2010, with Roger O’ Conner as Vice-Captain, Vincent and Maurice as Secretary and Treasurer, John Considine as Handicap Secretary, along with committee members Tom Mulcahy, PJ Kindregan and Noel Brennan (ex officio).

NEW MEMBERS SPECIAL OFFER
Management have decided to attract new members with an introductory rate of subscription for 2010, much lower than the current annual sub. The details have not been thrashed out yet, but this writer speculates that the sub for such new members will be a flat €500, without any Social Levy or strings attached. Secretary/Manager Irene Lynch tells me that she will have the full story soon, and if anybody wants to give her a buzz on 058 41605 or 43310 she will send them a membership application form; on the other hand they may download the form from the club website, www.dungarvangolfclub.com.
