MAURICE CLIFF IN THE WINNERS ENCLOSURE
Our popular and affable competition Secretary Maurice Cliff managed to beat off stiff competition in Saturdays Open and emerge the winner with a fantastic 41 points. Local artist Maurice, whose round included 6 pars was delighted with his win. Donie Williams, former Captain and Friary teacher playing off (4) also impressed us with his gross win. His round started well with birdies on the 1st and 2nd and he followed this with 12 pars, 3 bogeys and a final birdie on the 17th. Great shooting lads. .
BANK HOLIDAY SUNSHINE GETS THE SCORCHING SCORES IN
Our bank holiday weekend opens were a huge successes with Saturday and Sunday’s weather ensuring a packed golf course. Visitors were abundant in numbers in Sundays 18 hole stroke including Enniscorthy man Richard Grannell who emerged the clear winner with 65 nett. I’m sure Richard was delighted that he had chosen our sunny Dungarvan Golf Club for his Bank Holiday weekend! Member Michael McGrath who hails from Glencairn in Lismore took the gross. Michael who plays off (6) had 11 pars and a birdie on the 12th, a great round. Mondays competition had to be cancelled due to heavy rainfall, but this was a small setback in what was otherwise a brilliant weekend with great weather. Many thanks to all the visitors and members who supported the weekend.
