OPEN FORTNIGHT STARTS WITH GREAT FUN THIS FRIDAY:
Its that time of year again already, and the weather has been heating up for our fabulous fortnight of golf. This Friday the 2nd July sees our popular Club member, the effervescent Joe Murphy from Ardmore, sponsoring his Open three person scramble. Joe's gregarious nature and generous array of prizes always ensures a full timesheet on his day. Saturday the 3rd sees Morrissey's Supervalu in as a very welcome sponsor hosting an open singles for Ladies, while Darragh Connolly of Connolly’s Pharmacy is once again generously sponsoring the Open 2 man scramble on Sunday. Darragh's recent "2 for one" offers in his shop have been going down a storm with every one and we thank him, and all our sponsors, for their continued support during open fortnight. Many thanks also to East Cork Oil, The Cliff House Hotel, Arachas Insurance and Gleesons who are all sponsoring during the 1st week. A full list of fixtures is available online. We would be delighted to welcome visitors and members to enjoy our beautiful course.

The Dungarvan Masters event was held again in the three clubs and entries this year were up on last year to over 90. The Gold Coast hosted on Monday, Tuesday West Waterford and Wednesday was our turn. Thursday the prestigious Mount Juliet held the final with many players delighted to be through including Kevin McGrath from the states playing off (11) who won the main prize for the day with 41 points. It is hope to organsie the same event for next year, and next time its rumored that the main man himself might appear!

The inaugural Padraig Harrington Open Scotch Foursomes Tournament took place last Friday at Dungarvan Golf Club. With the course in fantastic condition and beautiful weather, Juniors from all over the province took to the course and proceeded to show the potential that the Munster Branch of the GUI are hoping to develop.
