OPEN FORTNIGHT
Despite the weather not holding up as we would have hoped, our golfers braved the ‘soft rain’ and headed out to compete in this years Open Fortnight. Tom Conway, Rogie O’Connor, Kevin Stack and Owen O’Mahoney are names that kept making an appearance in the winners enclosure this week. Former Captain Tom had a 3rd with his playing partner Tish Baumann in Monday's Mixed Foursomes and went on to take 1st in Wednesday's Cliff House Hotel open singles with a spectacular 43 points, the highest score of the week. A great example of practice makes perfect! The ‘unbeatable’ Kevin Stack playing off scratch had gross wins on Wednesday , Thursday's Arachas Insurance singles and Saturday’s Mercyhurst College singles making a great hat trick for the 1st week. Our Vice Captain Rogie featured in the 1st prize in the Gleesons 3 person rumble and then had the top score on the Sunday of the Mercyhurst College open returning a 39 giving him the best Sunday prize. Life member Owen O’Mahoney from Kilrossanty appeared twice as well, coming 2nd in the Mercyhurst College singles and 4th in Gleesons 3 person rumble on Friday. Our conclusion of open fortnight is this Sunday with our Festival Trophy. There are still places on all the timesheets- so call your friends and we’ll see you there.

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES THIS FRIDAY
The lucky prize winners of this week's competitions will be presented with their prizes from our generous sponsors this coming Friday 16th of July in the clubhouse at 9.30pm. All prizewinners are requested to attend to support our sponsors. Why not make an evening of it and enjoy a lovely meal in the clubhouse before hand? We look forward to welcoming everyone particularly the visitors who have featured in the competitions.

SENIOR CUP
John Reynolds' team consisting of Donal Williams, Dermot Walsh, Alan O’Donnell, Jack Leacey and John himself played West Waterford in Faithlegg on Saturday. The lads played well but were eventually defeated by West Waterford.

JUNIOR CUP
The East Munster area final of the Junior Cup takes place on Thursday 15th July at 4pm in Carrick on Suir Golf Club, when Dungarvan take on Thurles Golf Club. After the tremendous performance two weeks ago in Waterford Castle, where they beat Faithlegg, Waterford Castle and Carrick on Suir, confidence is justifiably high for the match against seasoned campaigners Thurles. All and any support for the team would be welcomed by the team manager Sean Wade. We wish them the best of luck.

MEMBERS E MAILS
Would members please check that their E Mail address on the tee booking system is in fact correct. We are getting an increasing number of “bounced” E Mails from the system where it cannot deliver E mails to members who have booked tee times due to an incorrect or invalid E Mail address. To Check your E Mail address, log on to book a tee time in the usual way. At the top right hand side of the page click on “My Account”. Correct the E Mail address if necessary and click on "update" at the bottom of the page.

FRIDAY SCRAMBLE
Weather permitting, the Friday night 9 hole Scramble will take place this Friday @ 6.30 for those who are interested.

SCHOLAR’S STALLION
Our Course manager Anthony ‘Scholar’ Morrissey has a new sideline away from the golf course of an equestrian nature. It is rumoured that he now has a new four legged friend who he has high hopes for. Watch this space!
