PRESIDENT'S PRIZE AND SCRAMBLE
The next big club fixture, The President’s Prize, kindly presented by Frank Lloyd, will be held from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th August 2010. We are delighted to have Frank as our Club President and his great sense of humour and lively banter has ensured that he is a very popular President with all the members. The President's Scramble will take place on Wednesday 11th August at 6.15p.m sharp. The entry list for this can be found in the club foyer (the old fashioned way!) and spaces are rapidly filling up for this fun event. Frank is also inviting all eligible members to participate in his main prize. To enter, you must be a Full Member of Dungarvan Golf Club for the previous three months; however, Country, Overseas and Junior Members (whose handicaps are 16 or lower) are eligible to compete for all but the first prize.
On Friday 13th and Saturday 14th an 18 hole Stableford first round will be played, with the top 80 men plus ties and the top 36 ladies plus ties qualifying to play a second round on Sunday 15th. The aggregate score over the two rounds will decide the winner. The draw for playing partners and exact starting times will be made on Tuesday 10th at 7 pm. Tee times will be strictly adhered to, and requests for change cannot be entertained once the draw is posted. The timesheet for Sunday’s final round will be posted at 10 pm on Saturday 14th. Qualifiers should check their Sunday tee time on-line, or by telephoning the club at (058) 41605/43310, ext 21, between 10 and 11pm.
Please note that the course is closed on Friday 13th up to commencement of play. Practice on the course on that day is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
All members and their partners are invited to the Clubhouse from 8.30 pm on Sunday 15th for the presentation of prizes at 9 pm.

35th Annual Left-Handers Competition
This annual competition will be held on Sunday August 8th 2010 . The current holder Alan O'Donnell will be defending his title this year in this 18 hole singles stroke. The entry Fee is €5 and it is an equal opportunities competition being open to both Ladies & Gents (members only). Players may additionally enter the club competition of the of the day although separate score cards are required for each competition. So all you ciotóg’s out there get your clubs out and show those righties how its done!

FRED DALY MUNSTER FINALS
Dungarvan Golf Club were delighted to host the Fred Daly Munster Finals on Friday with teams from West Waterford, Killarney, Adare Manor and Douglas golf clubs all competing . There was a great buzz around the clubhouse and course, and with many spectators attending to watch, the event started to feel like the Irish Open. In the end Adare Manor emerged as the victors with a 5 -2 win against Killarney. Team Manager Joe Rowan was delighted with the win and was very complimentary about our superb greens and the hospitality shown by the club. The all Ireland final will be hosted by Dungarvan Golf Club on Tuesday the 17th of August and the course will be closed all day to facilitate this event. Dungarvan Golf Club would like to take this opportunity to wish all the competing teams the best of luck in this final. Any members wishing to give the players their support at this event would be very welcome.

IRISH BOYS CLOSE CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
The club have been very privileged over the past few years to host some prestigious events for the GUI and no more so than this years Irish Boys Close Championships. On Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th and Friday 20th of August we will play host to this inspiring championship. Previous winners include Rory Mc Ilroy, David Higgins, Damien McGrane and Eoin O’Connell, all now Pro’s. This is a great way to watch the emerging new young talent from around the country. This year Paul Dunne from Greystones will be going for an unprecedented three in a row so there will be many eyes watching his progress. Our own Jack Lacey will be representing the club in the under 16 section and we will be behind him all the way. The course will be closed for the three days in order to facilitate this exciting event. However, members can use this unique opportunity to come and spot the next Padraig Harrington in the making in the comfort of their own club.

JUNIOR GOLF
Daly Takes Captain's Prize:
In beautiful conditions, our juniors took to the course for our Captain's prize kindly sponsored by club captain, Mr. Des Cleary. Scoring was good and local man Sean Daly prevailed on a countback with 42 points. Second was Gold Coast member John Elstead with Gabriel Leacy continuing his fine form with one over to take the gross prize. Our Pre juniors also took to the course in numbers and David Looby took the honors with 23 points winning on a countback from Conor McCarthy. Captain Des presented his prizes to a packed house. He paid tribute to the behavior of our junior members and thanked them for their participation. All in all, a great day was had by all.

Leacy wins another Irish Cap:
Jack Leacy has been selected to play for Ireland in the Italian Under 16 Amateur Championship at the end of August. Following his recent sucess in the English Amateur Championship and a superb effort at the Interpros, we anticipate that Jack could do very well at Biella Golf Club.
