DEISE GOLF WORLD WINTER LEAGUE 5TH ROUND
The Deise Golf World 5th round winter league resumed after the Christmas period. The weather has been very kind this year and scores were excellent. The Thursday 16 hole was won by Jack Elstead with Maurice Conway in second place. The Friday competition was won by Clare native Tom Melody. Saturdays 16 hole competition was won by Captains prize winner Colm O’Hare. Colm recorded an eagle and three birdies in his round. Ballinroad team member Jim Quinn came in 2nd place. Don Brockie and James Moroney took minor placings. Sunday was won by Derek Power who is running into form of late. Anthony Rochford also returned an excellent score to take 2nd place. Alan Thomas took gross with 37 and Conor O’Brien and Eddie Elstead took minor placings. Full scores and handicaps in gents results section:. COURSE DAMAGE
Following an inspection by the course staff and due to the recent heavy rains, damage to the greens by plug marks is fairly evident. Therefore we would ask members to repair their plug marks in a diligent manner, otherwise we will be forced to use temporary greens to prevent further damage. Thank you for your co operation.

CONGRAULATIONS TO CHEF CHRIS!
Our popular young chef Chris Daly has finally finished his 3 year course in advanced culinary arts in the WIT where he graduated on Thursday 5th Jan. Chris was delighted to receive his certificate while his proud Dad Tom looked on. Chris has worked in the club for 5 years now and there’s no doubt his food is top class. Well done on your fantastic achievement Chris and we wish you many more happy years with us.

Erica and Neil Take Honors.
Last Friday we enjoyed a great turnout for our New Year competition. Erica Barry showed her promise with 24 points over 9 holes to win the Pre Junior from Calum Organ, while Neil Montgomery showed daddy Mike how to do it shooting 48 points to win from Glenn O'Connor in the 18 holes. Thanks to Tom Daly and his staff who ensured our juniors and visitors had a great day.
