NICKY NORRIS WINS CAPTAINS PRIZE
What a weekend! Pat Stack our popular and hardworking Captain had a prize weekend to remember. The weather came in fits and starts on Friday and Saturday but thankfully, God put the SUN into Sunday to make perfect playing conditions. On day one Jack Elstead had the place buzzing with his return of 65. Could Jack keep his nerve for the Sunday? Nicky Norris returned a 69 on Saturday. Jason O’Halloran and Nickys brother Johnny both also returned 69’s so it was still anyone’s game at this stage. It was Nicky however that went on to keep his cool on the Sunday returning a 65 to claim the top spot with 134 points. Jack was only one shot behind him returning a score of 135. The presentation took place to a packed clubhouse on Sunday night, slightly delayed by the penalty shootout of England V Italy! The Vice Captain Michael O’Mahony spoke eloquently of Pats great contribution to the club through the years as a junior officer and committed clubman. JP Hayes the president spoke of Pats calm and gentlemanly manner.
Pat himself thanked all the people who had helped to make his weekend a great success, particularly his hardworking committee. He thanked his family and gave praise to his three sons who are all fantastic golfers in their own right. He also thanked his wife Ann for all her support and his friend who had travelled from America to be here for the prizegiving. Pat also spoke of  the winner Nicky who is a great clubman. Pat mentioned how Nicky has served on the course committee for many years, continues to be a supportive sponsor and was also a very popular club chairman. Being a Kerryman, Pat also shared a few jokes with everyone but forgot to mention that he had been approached on Saturday by a new member who had asked Pat if he was his playing partner! The prize giving then took place with Pat having great pleasure in presenting his son Kevin with the gross prize and his other son, the fashion conscious Eoin, with the best nett for the 2nd 18. Nicky Norris was thrilled to accept his beautiful prize and thanked Pat for a very enjoyable weekend. Dancing took place afterwards to the sounds of the popular Batty Prendegast where a great night was had by all.

Pat’s Mention in Saturdays Irish Independent
Pat had a lovely write up in Saturdays Independent- which is quoted below -
‘Pat Stack is another leader of men. I wouldn't be here today but for Pat and his brother Gerard. The boys minded me when I was a cracked young lad, and they still do.
Pat is captain of Dungarvan Golf Club and tomorrow he will puck the ball out for his Captain's prize.
The back is crocked and I can't travel. I would have dearly loved to  go out in Dungarvan for our beloved neighbour Pat, the most gentle and honourable of men.
There are so many good people out there if you only make the effort to seek them out’.
- Billy Keane
