OPEN FORTNIGHT CONTINUES
The weather has been mixed for the beginning of Open Fortnight (Fri. 29th June to Sun. 15th July) however that hasn’t dampened the support from members and visitors, which has been very encouraging. The Fortnight commenced with the popular A-Tec Fire and Security Group sponsored Open 3 Person Scramble.  In the winners enclosure were Ger Murphy (17) M. Reddy (14) D. Murphy (6) from Carlow and Borris with 593/8.  In second place was the Captain Pat Stack and his two sons Tom and Eoin with 601/8.  Ml Kelleher (28) Cyril Power (28) Tom Melody (14) came third with 621/4. 

On Saturday Sanikleen local hygiene company sponsored the gents open singles. In first place was low handicapper Paddy Kennedy (5) with a marvellous 42pts.  Visitor Paul Nagle (23) from Bodenstown came second with 41pts and in third was Eoin Stack (5) 40pts. 

On Sunday 1st July Connolly’s Chemist sponsored a Gents Open Fourball.  In first place was Tramore combination of Michael Sullivan (14) and Tony Whealan (15) with 45pts.  They beat our Captain’s Prize winner Nicky Norris (14) and runner up and Jack Elstead (18) by one shot on 44pts.  In thirds spot was Martin Lynch (16) Mathew Lynch (21) 44pts.

IRISH MIXED FOURSOMES
On Wednesday 27th June David Hayes manager took his panel of players to Cahir Golf Club to take on Tipperary in the area final of the Irish mixed foursomes.  He had a strong panel available to him on the day despite the absence of some panel members.  And as is usual in these competition it went to the wire with the important match taking the honours on the 3rd tie hole (21st).  Well done to all involved on a gallant win on the occasion.  Panel on the day: A. Thomas + C. Elstead, K. Stack + R McCarthy, J Reynolds + J Fitzgerald, P Mullaney + M.Flahavan, A. Harty + D. Ruane, M. Lavin + M. Fitzgerald.  Onwards and upwards we go!

BELVEDERE TROPHY
Sean Power manager continues to get the best from his panel of players in the Belvedere Trophy.  The continue their efforts in the next round which is the county final in Faithlegg on 24th July.

IRISH SENIOR CUP
Dungarvan Golf Club take on Faithlegg in the Irish Senior Cup at Tramore Golf Club on Saturday next 7th July.  Sean Wade manager has a strong panel to select from and best wishes to all involved. 

JUNIOR CUP
Manager John Gough and his panel Eoin Stack, D Buckley, J. Curtin, Simon O’Hara, Brian Irish, Ml Buckley, Barry Hamilton and Kevin Cusack were unsuccessful in their efforts to progress in the Junior Cup against Gold Coast at Faithlegg on Saturday 30th June.  Well done to all involved.

TUITION
Coaching for our beginners and PreJuniors will resume this Saturday at 3p.m following our break for the Captains Prize and Fred Daly match.

OPEN COMPETITION FOR JUNIORS
Junior Pennant cup kindly sponsored by Johnny Lynch Fruit and Vegetable merchants takes place on July 2nd. All juniors are encouraged to participate. The presentation of prizes will take place in the clubhouse after the event.
