We had a great turnout over the bank holiday weekend and players were delighted to see the sunshine at last. Thanks to the members for their support and we were also delighted to welcome many visitors to the club from golf clubs nationwide and also from the UK and United States Mercyhurst College.  Some fine scoring was achieved throughout the weekend.

The week started with 2 handicapper Evelyn Hearne from Waterford winning Category 0-12 in Mondays Open Ladies and Gents Seniors with 40pts.  Cobh member Ann Lenihan won category 13-18.  On Thursday, a gentleman who we will be honouring in the coming weeks, JP Hayes Club President, won the Open Singles with a brilliant 40pts beating Kevin Cusack (6) on the back nine.  Former Captain and Club Treasurer Jimmy Wemyss (13) was only a shot off the pace with 39pts and came in third.  Pat Walsh (19) from Frankfield dominated Fridays competition winning with 40pts, in second place was impressive junior member Gabriel Leacy, now playing off 3 handicap, with 37pts.  Saturday saw the on form Conor Barrett (8) returning 42pts to beat junior member Seamus Burke (13) by a shot on 41pts.  Gross went to Alan Thomas (+2) with an excellent 36points gross.  Kevin Regan (13) came in third on 40pts.  On Sunday there was a blanket of 69’s netts with Victor Mullins (17) coming out top of the pile.  Second to fifth places went to Pat Morrissey (14), Kevin Coleman (11), Sean Donnelly (13) and Conor O’Brien.  Pat Norris Jnr (1) has a steady 72 gross.  Thank you to all that participated over the weekend.
