PRESIDENT’S PRIZE
This coming weekend is the clubs final major of the year with the Presidents Prize kindly presented by Mr. Jim Hayes. Jim is in his 2nd year as president of the club and would be better known to all as JP. A true gentleman who would not wish to be in the forefront but is always working behind the scenes for the better of Dungarvan Golf Club. Jim was born on the Yellow Road in Waterford, and educated at Mount Sion, something he is most proud of. Jim took up employment at Waterford Crystal in 1964, transferred to Dungarvan in 1970 until retirement in 1996. In his capacity as master glass cutter he performed his duties as an artisan for Waterford Crystal overseas on many occasions. Married to Bernie a Cork native, they have three children, Derek, Martina and Lorraine. Derek has represented his country at international level in the decathlon and the girls at county level. Jim himself was also involved with Waterford Athletic Club in his early years when he had hair!
As already stated Jim is not a person for limelight but has continuously involved himself in the clubs activities be it at junior or senior level and is readily available to welcome all comers to Dungarvan Golf Club. Jim this coming weekend is an important one for you and your family. It is our wish that the sun shines on you and that all have a most successful weekend. ‘J.P’ you deserve it.
