How Do I Join Dungarvan Golf Club?
Membership is currently open for all categories of golfer – beginners, improvers, experienced and advanced. Ladies and gents have equal membership with equal rights.

Election to Membership
The Management Committee elects Social Members, Honorary Members, Honorary Life Members and Corporate Members (if any). The maximum number of members in each category is decided by the Management Committee, in consultation with the respective clubs.

The Men’s Club Committee elects male playing members and the Ladies’ Club Committee elects female playing members.

An application form may be downloaded from this site, or requested from the Secretary/Manager by phone, Fax or e-mail. Application for membership should be made to the relevant Hon. Sec. on the form provided, giving, accurately, all the requested information. The form must be signed by the candidate’s proposer and seconder, both Full Members of at least one year’s standing, and neither of whom may be a member of the relevant committee. The application is posted on the club notice board for fourteen days prior to consideration at a Committee Meeting.

The application form must be accompanied by the annual subscription and any portion of an entrance fee or levy due on election to membership. Any money paid on application for new membership will be refunded immediately if a candidate is not duly elected. Change of category is subject to election, but if the category of membership being applied for is full the candidate may be put on a waiting list on payment of a deposit decided by the Management Committee.

  • A €50 Social Levy is payable in addition to above rates (any part of the levy not spent by 30th September is forfeited).
  • There is no ‘joining fee’ currently.
  • Annual subscription includes personal affiliation of ladies to the Irish Ladies Golfing Union (ILGU) and gents to the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI).

Categories Of Membership
There are various categories of member including Full Members, Honorary Members, Honorary Life Members, Student Members, Junior Members, Pre-junior Members, Country Members, Social Members, Overseas Members, Corporate Members (if any) and Temporary Members.

Full Members: are men and women who have paid the annual subscription, an entrance fee if it applies and any levy applicable, e.g. social levy. Members in this category are entitled to attend and vote at Annual or Extraordinary General Meetings of the Parent Club and enjoy all facilities prescribed under section 5.1 of the Rules and Constitution of the club. Full Members alone have control of the affairs of the club, by attending and voting at general meetings, and are eligible for election as officers and members of committees.

Honorary / Honorary Life Members: are those whose exceptional contribution to the Club is recognised and acknowledged, or those whose distinguished position in the community is considered advantageous to the club. Honorary Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of Full Members.

Life Membership: whereby the annual subscription is paid by a once-off sum for life, is available from time to time on terms decided by the Management Committee.

Student Members: are Full Members who are also full time students and are in this category at the discretion of the Management Committee.

Members in the following categories are not Full Members:

Junior Members: This category comprises members who have reached the age of 12 but have not yet reached 18. Junior Members are not permitted to compete in the Captain’s Prize, or other competitions specified by the Men’s Club Committee or the Ladies’ Club Committee. Code Of Conduct For Junior Members

Pre-Junior Members: 6 – 11 year olds; the number of whom, their eligibility to enter competitions and theirs rights and privileges are determined by the Management Committee in consultation with the Men’s and Ladies’ Clubs. Code Of Conduct For Pre-Junior Members

Country Members: A Full Member of another club affiliated to either the Golfing Union of Ireland or the Irish Ladies Golfing Union, whose main residence is at least 15 miles from Dungarvan Golf Club is eligible to apply for election as a Country Member.

Social Members: Social Members are those who enjoy the use of the club house facilities only.

Overseas Members: are those whose main residence is outside Ireland. Conditions of such membership are decided by the Management Committee.

Temporary Members: Any visitor whose use of the course is paid for by Green Fee or entry to an Open Competition is a Temporary Member for the day.

Corporate Membership: may be allowed by the Management Committee if the circumstances warrant same. The Committee will decide the Terms and Conditions.
