Deise Golf Winter Opens
It is Dungarvan Golf Club’s turn this week to host the Deise Open Golf Week from Monday 1st to Sunday 7th February.   The competitions are open to male and female competitors and the entry fee is only €15 for visitors and €6 for members (but entry to the Club Competition includes entry to the Deise Open). Each week, 5 golfers will qualify to go forward for the grand final in April 2010 to play for a chance to win the top prize of four greenfees and four meal vouchers from each participating club.  The circuit is made up of the 9 participating Co.Waterford Golf Clubs, all of who’s members in the County are encouraged to support these events. We are delighted to be hosting this event and would like to extend a warm welcome to the visitors to our club this week.

Ice to meet you
This weekend’s winter league may have been abandoned due to the frosty conditions, but conditions were far from frosty in the clubhouse. A warm glow came from all the golfers ‘stranded’ inside waiting for the course staff to do their next inspection. Much banter abounded in the bar & pro shop as people met up due to the delay and the ever cheerful Tom Daly was on hand to provide tea & coffee for the frustrated winter leaguers.  In the end a nine hole competition went ahead at 10.30 giving everyone their much need golf but bringing us no closer to any results of this years Deise Golf sponsored winter league. Hopefully next weekend will see an improvement in this freezing weather.

Gift Idea for Members
A book of ten green fees for €100 – how’s that for value! Towards encouraging members to invite friends, relations or work colleagues to play our course during the year, and to generate revenue for the club, Management has introduced a special members’ offer of 10 green fees for €100. These green fees can be used Monday to Friday, and otherwise by arrangement only. These €100 ticket blocks are available at the office or bar, and we appeal to members to support the idea.

Junior Notes
Coaching for our elite squads continues every Monday evening at Tinhalla Driving Range under the watchful eye of County coach and club professional David Hayes. Parents and adult members are welcome to attend, as transport is always required, and you might learn something! Departure is from Dungarvan Golf Club at 7pm.
