BARTON SHIELD AREA WINNERS

Well done to our Barton Shield team who defeated Tramore on Sunday in dramatic fashion on the 19th hole. Alan Thomas & Danny Raher had finished 2nd on 18. With Gavin Smyth and Jake O’ Riordan coming up 18 1up they needed to win 18 to keep the match alive. They duly birdied 18 to bring the game down 19. They again birdied 19 to close out the win for Dungarvan. It was a great sporting battle with Tramore GC. Well done to the team and managers Michael Leacy and David Raher. We now go on to the Munster Semi Final in August. A great day in Dungarvan GC!

JB CARR TEAM

Our JB Carr team were at home to Tralee GC in the first leg of our Munster Semi Final last Friday. In a very tight series of matches, we came out with a 3-2 lead going forward to the second leg in Tralee.
In Match No. 1, we had three All Stars and Pat Power. Pat and Mossie Walsh took on Kingdom legends, Mike Sheehy and Ger Power. After a high quality match, Pat and Mossie got over the line with a 2&1 victory.

Maurice Conway and Thomas Whelan had an emphatic 5&3 win. PJ Kindregan and Pat Breen were All Square after 18 holes and lost out on the 19th. Pat Stack and Johnny Norris were defeated on the 18th. That left one match on the course. Declan Walsh and John G Moloney were also forced into sudden death holes. They came through with a brave win on the 21st hole. So, we hold a narrow advantage heading into the second leg on Wednesday. “A lot done, more to do” !!!

GET INTO GOLF MIXED SCRAMBLE

Last Sunday saw the return of our Get into Golf Mixed Scramble in glorious sunshine. Our Barton Shield team had just had a nail biting victory over Tramore when our Get into Golf Scramble took to the fairways. Excitement was rife around the clubhouse. It was a wonderful event for our new golfers to experience and view.

1st: Michael Gildea, Antoinette Hurley and  Labhaoise Dunbar
2nd: John Murphy , Theresa Guiry, Nora O’ Flynn and Margaret Seiffert
3rd: Conor Johnson, Ellen Power and Anne Murray

It was surely Antoinette Hurley’s day as she had just won fifty euro in the weekly Lotto draw earlier.
There was excitement and fun in the clubhouse later. Well done to all the participants.
