CAPTAINS PRIZE – DAVID P. BYRNE
Our first major event of the year, our Captains Prize kindly presented by David P. Byrne, will be played from Friday 10th July to Sunday 12th July 2020. We would like to wish our Captain David P. Byrne the very best for his weekend ahead.
Meet Our Captain
David probably better known as Dave and his wife Helen have resided in the Ballinroad area since 2013 having relocated to the Deise county from Dublin. They have two daughters namely Jennifer and Emma and two grandchildren Arianne and Bobby.
Dave retired after 32 years of service in Dublin Fire Brigade as an officer, the final six years giving tuition in the Fire Brigade training college. He is a member of Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band since 1985 playing bagpipes, travelling to Russia, America, Canada & England to perform.
Within a short time of arriving in Ballinroad, Dave involved himself with Dungarvan Cycling Club getting knowledge of the general area. Subsequently he joined Dungarvan Hillwalking Club and is presently membership secretary – as the song goes “over hills and mountains and to America” Dave has done it all.
Dungarvan Golf Club was his next stop taking up membership and being elevated to the position of Club Captain for the 2019/2020 season. He has committed himself totally to the task and having regard to ongoing restrictions he continues to ensure that we as members can play the game in a safe manner. As a “Dub” to the Deise and Dungarvan Golf Club you have endeared yourself to the many who have got to know you. Congratulations David.
Our Captains Scramble takes place on Wednesday 8th July and entry fee is 5 euro.
On Friday 10th July the course will be closed up to 12 midday and the start of play. Practice on the course on the day not permitted.
The timesheet for Sunday will be posted at 10pm on Saturday 11th July. Qualifiers should check the timesheet for their times of play.
There will be an 18H Singles S/F competition on Sunday 12th July at 7.30am – 10.20am for non-qualifiers. There is also a 9 Hole Singles S/F competition for our Summer Offer Members and Country Members from 2.30pm – 4pm on Sunday 12th July.
The presentation of prizes will take place at 7pm on Sunday 12th outside the Pro Shop (for social distancing purposes) and winners will be notified. We would appreciate if all winners are represented at this time. On behalf of Captains David P. Byrne, we would like to wish everyone taking part a very enjoyable weekend of golf.
We are keeping very busy here at Dungarvan Golf Club and move straight into our popular Open Fortnight directly after the Captains Prize Weekend.
We have some great competitions each day and we would like to thank all our generous sponsors for their support. It is very much appreciated. For online bookings visit www.dungarvangolfclub.com
