Due to COVID 19 regulations we are now using the online booking system for this fun event. Last week the time sheet was full on Thursday and we had to form a waiting list. Sadly, we were unable to accommodate everyone. Many thanks to our Captain David Byrne for supporting the competition.

1st  Jim O’Mahony and Siobhan Freyne, 2nd  Gerard Ryan and Grace Hayes,
3rd Marcella McGovern and Colette Power, 4th David P Byrne (Captain) and Phyllis Davis.

There is no FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES this week because of our Autumn Open Week. However, we are back again on Fri Sept 18. The timesheet is open now. To avoid disappointment, go online and book your place. This is social golf at its best.

Our scramble on 2nd January produced an extraordinary result whereby we had joint winners. The two teams had the same score on each hole and their combined handicap was the same. Great planning on behalf of the selector of the teams!

The winners were:

1st John Byrne (28), Jack Elstead (20), Tom McCabe (26) and Pat McCarthy (25) 28 ¾

1st Rogie Cashin (19), Shay O’Connor (29), Charlie Daly (27) and Paul Vart (24)  28 ¾

3rd   Maurice Cliffe (18), Mossie Walsh (7) and Pat Power (22) 29

Remember that our summer teeing off times are still in place and we need all players in the clubhouse before 1:45pm. Each player must book online to adhere to the Covid 19 tracing guidelines. Come along any Wednesday for our fun event and join us for social golf, coffee and chat.

Frances Moynihan (26) was our winner for the weekly Youngones competition on Wednesday 2nd September with 17pts.

Our next competition is on Wednesday 9th September from 11.30am – 12.30pm on the front nine. Please book your name on the time sheet.

The Home Alliance competition will be starting in early October and the lists are now on the notice board in the locker room. Summer is fast disappearing when the Home Alliance lists go up! For new members the Home Alliance is an internal club competition which runs over the autumn/winter period culminating in a Captain’s Day at the end of March.

The Home Alliance competition runs in conjunction with the competition of the day and you can sign up to play on Tuesday or Friday/Saturday. Depending on the entry there will be categories within the competition and you will compete with the other members in the category for prizes so everyone has a real chance of a prize.

Everyone is welcome to join and we would encourage new members to participate. The Home Alliance Team of Maeve O Tuama, Maura Kindregan and Bernie Lynch will be organising this years competition and hope to run off four rounds before Christmas with two rounds in Jan/Feb followed by Captain’s Day in late March.

As soon as we have entries we will post dates and categories and hopefully
commence in early October. Entry fee is 20 euro and can be paid before the first round. We look forward to a good entry and would encourage members to join and
keep golfing over the winter.

The Winter League list will be going up soon, it’s a great way to keep us going in the winter, especially this year as golf gives us the opportunity to get out into the fresh air for some exercise and sociability, so put your name down!

Our Lotto draws will be starting again with our first draw on Friday September 25th at 4pm. Due to the COVID interruptions earlier in the year, some members were not able to purchase their €90 ticket. The ticket includes members in all of our Lotto weekly draws for 12 months.

Match 4 prize money currently is running at €8,500. You can purchase an annual ticket by preferably phoning the office or by calling to the office. You can also contact any of the Lotto Committee, or Management Committee or committee member of the Men’s or Ladies’ club for your ticket.

The Lotto funds are critical to the planned improvements for your course. We greatly appreciate and thank you for your support. Our members and their friends have been extremely generous to-date in their support of the Lotto and we have no doubt that this will continue. Please contact the office on 058-43310 and we can take payment over the phone.

Our Pro Shop continues to be a hive of activity. Please contact the Pro Shop to book in. As always, David has many special offers, all of which can be found on his website at
