We had another busy week with members enjoying being back on the fairways and while the weather was quite changeable at times it did not hinder us too much! We would like to thank all our members who continue to comply with the return to golf protocol and ensuring everyone stays safe.

The 10th of May was a big date for everyone in the country with the easing of domestic travel restrictions. It saw golf clubs get the green light to welcome visitors and the lifting of household restrictions. We are so delighted to be welcoming back visitors to Dungarvan Golf Club and it is great to see the online bookings coming in.

The main changes since Monday were:

  • Fourballs are permitted with no household restrictions
  • No limits on domestic travel
  • Member guests and visitors will be permitted
  • Club competitions for members only

Golf Ireland also confirmed late last week that they have negotiated that we can now play internal club competitions only. We will commence our internal club competitions from Monday 17th May along with our Youngones, 60.Com and Fun Friday Foursomes club competitions.

If you are bringing guests to play, you must ensure that their names are recorded on the timesheets by phoning the Pro Shop or Office. We are running Fourballs at 10 minute intervals and the timesheet goes live each Monday at 18.40pm.

Tee times must be booked in advance online or over the telephone. We must ensure that players’ names are recorded on timesheets and timesheets must be kept for a period of at least six weeks to assist with contact tracing should the need arise.
You must report to the Pro Shop before playing as they are maintaining the timesheet.

We have a great new membership rate for anyone interested in joining the club. Please contact the office for further details and to request a membership application form. Email office@dungarvangolfclub.com.

We are delighted to welcome back societies and have some great green fee rates available. We have a busy summer ahead with lots of groups booked in. If you would like to book in a date for your group, please email us or call 058-43310.

Club competitions got the green light so we are delighted to be back playing from Wednesday 19th May at 12 Midday. Please book in your name on the timesheet which goes live each Monday at 18.40pm. We look forward to seeing you all next week!

The Golf Ireland App, which provides for pre-registration and return of general play scores, has now been launched. The App can be used at players’ Home or Away Clubs. The new App allows you to enjoy the flexibility of recording scores for handicap purposes from either 9-hole or 18-hole social rounds played in accordance with the Rules of Handicapping.

You can also view your own handicap index and playing record as well as follow and communicate with friends. To download the app, simply search for “Golf Ireland” in the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and select the version with the Golf Ireland logo.

We have had a number of enquiries regarding handicaps. If you haven’t already done so you must register on the Golf Ireland website www.golfireland.ie for your new handicap under the World Handicap System (WHS). Click on ‘My Golf Login’ and sign in. You will need your 8 Digit Golf Ireland number and pin, both can be found on your club card. You will then get your Handicap Index and can look up your Course playing handicap. You can also download the Golf Ireland App which will enable you to check your handicap for any course you play.

The three golf clubs in Dungarvan have a long-standing reciprocal agreement whereby members can play Monday – Friday at a reduced green fee of €15 in each other’s club. This does not apply at weekends or competitions. For bookings please contact respective offices.
