After 3 rounds played in the Covid league, there is very little between the top 4 teams, leading to a hugely exciting next round.  Team 2 (Cathie O’Mahony) are still in the lead, with team 7 (Maisie Breen) moving into second place, but coming up fast in joint 3 place is team 3 (Mary Power) and team 5 (Bridget Aherne).  There are only 20 points separating these top 4 teams so every entry counts towards the next round.  Two of the teams; numbers 3 and 7 had points from each member of the team as they all submitted at least one card last month so its vitally important for everyone to try and return the maximum of 6 cards, no matter how low the score may appear.

We have just 2 more rounds so get out and enjoy, and don’t forget to play off your ‘playing handicap (95%)’ not your course handicap. Remember, your team needs you.

Volunteer work on the course continues at 10.00am on Wednesday 7th at 10.00am. We have had a great turn out for the last few weeks, thanks to all who have given their time. If you have a petrol or battery powered hedge trimmer please bring it along to trim around some of the perimeter tee boxes. If not, bring a shovel to fill some potholes on the paths.

We had our weekly Lotto 3 draw on Friday, 2nd July. The numbers drawn were 8 – 13 – 21 – 27. The jackpot was €9,300 and there was no winner. The jackpot increases to €9,400 for the next draw. There were five Match 3 winning tickets (€25 each).
The five ticket holders were: –

1. Maura Kindregan
2. JP & Bernie Hayes
3. Mossie MacNamara
4. The Conway Grandchildren
5. Teresa Hayes

Thanks for all your support. Annual Tickets (€90) are still available. Weekly Tickets for sale in the Club.  €2 for one line and €5 for three lines. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto, all funds raised are used to develop our course. Some great work has been completed over recent years and more Lotto funds will be spent in the coming year to enhance your enjoyment of our excellent course.

We had a great turnout last Wednesday for our weekly competition. Results from Wednesday 30th June 1st Caroline Cullinane (36) 20pts, 2nd Bernie Hayes 923) 19pts, 3rd Bernie Lynch (29) 19pts, 4th Kate McNamara (29) 19pts. Our next competition is on Wednesday 7th July from 11.30am – 1.20pm. Please book in your name on the timesheet which goes live each Monday at 18.40pm.

We had the best day of the year on Wednesday 30th June when we played our competition and we enjoyed the excellent condition of the course. The sun brought out a great crown of golfers who returned some excellent scores.

The winners were:

1st John Hickey 22pts, 2nd Dermott Kelly 21pts

For the foreseeable future we will not have a draw for partners and we will play according to the timesheet. If you wish to play any week please book on the timesheet. New members are always welcome to join. You will need to observe the Covid protocols to ensure the safety of all our members.

The scores were very close last Friday with just a quarter of a point separating the winners. We had a great turn out with everyone complimenting the course and the event.
1st Pat Crowley and Mary Prendergast
2nd Flora Wall and Jane Kiely
3rd Tom Phelan and Phyllis Davis
We are back again next Friday July 9. If you wish to play, go online and book your slot. We would love to have you join us.

Our Get into Golf programme for ladies begins this week. There is a huge interest in it with a waiting list now in place. This programme has been hugely successful in Dungarvan Golf Club with forty-four Get into Golf ladies now playing regularly in our weekly competitions.  We have a very strong Get into Golf committee who are fully committed to the programme. We are also very lucky to have our PGA professional David Hayes in situ who is so supportive and interested in all our upcoming golfers. We are looking forward to welcoming all our new Get into Golf ladies this week.

• Members must stay away from the club if they are experiencing any COVID like   symptoms.

• When on the course there should be no touching of flag poles or raking the bunkers, but level the sand with your feet or club. A local rule of placing no more than 6 inches in the bunker will apply.

• The practice area will be open but slots must be booked in advance through the Pro Shop.
