The exciting Covid League has finally come to an end, hopefully the same can be said for its namesake!

The whole competition has been played with great enthusiasm by the teams and a worthy winner has emerged- Team 2.  On analysing the monthly results, Team 2 was in joint lead after the first round and was outright leader for the rest of the competition.  Well done to them all.  2nd place was won by team 3, who were hot on their heels since the third round. The league has been a great incentive to play loads of golf and maybe the weather will allow us all to keep that up throughout the winter. We all look forward to the return of the more usually named Winter League over the next few months; hopefully without interruption this year.

The winning teams are as follows.

1st PLACE, TEAM 2.  Cathy O’Mahony, Christine O’Keeffe, Maris Kiersey (K), Marcella McGovern, Maeve Carthy and Fidelma Horsom. (496 points)

2nd PLACE TEAM 3.  Mary Power, Ina Considine, Colette Power, Colette O’Mahony, Kolette Enright and Mary Ryan. (468 points). Best individual player Kate McNamara 99pts.

Arrangements have finally been confirmed for our Ladies outing! The dates 13th and 14th September to Killarney playing Beaufort and Kileen courses. We will be staying in the Killarney Towers Hotel which has many great reviews commenting on their attention to Covid regulations. Details will be on the notice board soon so sign up and get your deposit in to secure your place.

We were thrilled with the turnout for this competition. We all know how important it is to be a good putter and these types of fun events help to improve your putting skills as well as providing great fun. The golfers did two rounds of the putting green and the results were amazing. This group of ladies are so enthusiastic and competitive.

Second : Maeve Gildea (on a count back from Julie Regan and Lisa Landers)
Thanks to David Hayes for providing everything for the competition and to Marcella McGovern and Ann Moloney for helping to run the event.

  • Flagsticks and Bunkers
Golf Ireland now permit rakes to be used and removing of flagpoles and this has been introduced in Dungarvan GC.  As per golf Ireland protocol, one person only should handle the flagstick & only one person should handle the rake. It is still optional but the 6-inch rule can no longer apply in bunkers. Please be responsible for sanitising your hands after use.
