Our very popular Lady Captain June James presents her Captains prize this weekend. June has been an enthusiastic and loyal member of Dungarvan Golf Club for nearly 40 years, joining the club in 1984. She has held a number of roles during her time as a member which include Ladies Secretary, Ladies Handicap Secretary and she was Lady Captain in 1996. This shows how popular and hard-working June is to take on the role of Lady Captain twice!  

We would like to wish June the very best for her important weekend and hope she, along with her family, enjoy a great weekend which she truly deserves.


The Ladies Captain’s prize kindly presented by June James will be played on Saturday, the 23rd July and Sunday the 24th July 2022. Entries will close on Thursday 21st July at 5 p.m. and the draw will be posted on the club website at 8 .00 p.m. Two 18 Hole stroke rounds will be played and the aggregate score over the two rounds will determine the overall winner. There will be no playoff.  The winner will be decided on countback. The time sheets for Sunday’s final round will be posted by 9.00 p.m. on the Saturday night.  Players should check their Sunday tee times by logging onto the club

An 18 Hole S/F competition for non-eligible members and 9 Hole S/F will be held on the
Sunday. A 9 Hole GIG S/F competition will be held on the Saturday afternoon.  (2021 group only). A putting competition for new Get Into Golf participants will be held on Sunday afternoon at approx. 3 p.m. Names should be entered on the list in the Ladies Locker room for the 18H, 9H and putting competitions.


The Lady Captain’s 9 Hole Scramble will take place on Wednesday 20th July at 5.30pm. The scramble is a shotgun start at 5.30pm sharp. Entry for this event is Cash Only – €10 and €5 for juniors to include finger food after golf.

The scramble is open to all members, please add your name on BRS and entries for the scramble will close at 6pm on Tuesday 19th July. We encourage all our members to take part in this fun event.


Our Open Fortnight concluded on Sunday and we thank all our members, their guests and visitors for supporting this important annual event. The weather was absolutely perfect and we received many compliments on our beautiful course. Timesheets were busy and the clubhouse was buzzing.

Congratulations to Maisie and AJ who have been selected on the U18 and U16 squads. The four-day event takes place in Hilton Templepatrick from between 18-21 July.

Each of the four competitions will take place in a round robin format, with the U16 and U14 Boys competitions taking place on 18-19 July. The U18 Boys and Girls competitions will last over three days between 19-21 July.

The U16 and U14 Boys competitions will see six players compete in one foursomes and four singles matches. The U18 Girls competition will see seven players compete in three foursomes and six singles matches, while the U18 Boys competition sees seven players compete in three foursomes and seven singles matches.

We wish Maisie and AJ all the best for the few days! They are both great representatives of our club.

Get into Golf 2021
This weekend our Lady Captain June James is hosting her Captains prize. June is very supportive of the Get into Golf programme and is including a special nine hole stableford competition for our Get into Golf ladies of 2021. This takes place on Saturday afternoon (Jul 23) at 2.30pm. Please add your name to list in the lady’s locker room.

Get into Golf 2022
As you now have your Golf Ireland number you can go online and book your game.  We will however continue to keep a slot every Tuesday evening for you so that you can come together and practice your golf.
There is a special putting competition next Sunday afternoon for you as part of the Lady Captains weekend. It will be great fun and we hope you can join us.
We are really pleased with the number of ladies who have opted to go forward with phase two of the Get into Golf programme. We have had a fantastic response which is terrific for our club going forward.


Our Get Into Golf group had their second lesson on Saturday and they are an enthusiastic bunch! There will be no Junior lessons on Saturday 23rd as our Lady Captains prize takes place. Our 3pm and 4pm lessons will resume on Saturday 30th July.

Our Open Junior Competitions take place every Wednesday – please book in on the timesheet. All are welcome.

We had our ninth weekly Lotto 4 draw today (Friday, 15th July). This was Week 9 of 52.
The numbers drawn were 9, 16, 23 and 25. The jackpot was €10,000 and there was no winner. The jackpot remains at €10,000 for the next draw. We had no Match 3 winning ticket.
