If you wish to record your score for handicap purposes, you must pre-register before start of play on the Golf Ireland App and have your score attested by your playing partner at the end of the round. From March 31st 2022, an automatic penalty score will apply to all scores that are pre-registered but not submitted. This applies to both general play and competitions.  The penalty score is calculated by Golf Ireland as the Course Rating + Course Handicap, which may result in an unfavourable change in your Handicap Index.

There are also new rules to be observed if you would like to represent your club at inter club competitions.

Golf Ireland have stated that anyone wishing to represent their club in Inter-Club competitions in 2023 MUST have 20 or more scores recorded on their record by the end of 2022.  At present, there is no requirement to have these recorded in a single calendar year, but that may change.

As always, please make sure you have your Handicap Index and Playing Handicap clearly marked on your card.
