CENTENARY FUNDRAISING OPEN CLASSIC

Our Centenary Fundraising Classic takes place this Thursday 18^th to Sunday 21^st of May and we are delighted with the response to date with lots of members and visitors booked in over the four days. The format is teams of four people and entry is €100 per team. We have some great prizes to be won! There are still some tee times available so please give the office a call on 058-43310 to book in or book online on our website. All proceeds are going towards next years celebrations where the club will hit the massive milestone of a 100 years! We look forward to welcoming you to our club for this important fundraiser.

GET INTO GOLF 2023

We had a very busy time this week welcoming over sixty new Get into Golf participants between men and women. We are thrilled with the huge interest and look forward to working with them over the next few weeks. It is a very busy time for our PGA Professional David Hayes who is doing a terrific job in developing our Get into Golf players. We are so lucky to have David on site who believes in the Get into Golf programme and is so good at imparting his knowledge.

NEW WEEKLY OPEN COMPETITIONS

Next week we will see the start of a new weekly Wednesday 9 hole Open competition for Ladies and Men kindly sponsored by ATEC Fire and Security. This will run each Wednesday until October with a great overall year end prize of a €500 voucher. Also, next Thursday 25^th sees the return of our Open Gents Spar Open Qualifier. Thanks to Leo and all at Spar for their ongoing support for our club.

CHALLENGE CUP TEAM

Congratulations to the Challenge Team managed by Marianne Mulcahy and Pat Flanagan who won their match against Youghal in Dungarvan. The team included Nollaig McCarthy, Patricia Butler, Ann Stack, Hannah Buckley and Cait Herlihy.  Caddies Kolette Enright, Maria Ryan, Christine OKeefe, John McElroy and Marcella Mc Govern.

REVIVE ACTIVE TEAM

Congratulations too, to the Revive Active team managed by June Hayes and Ina Considine. The team included, Niamh Reynolds/Louise Maloney, Cathie O Mahoney Whelan/June James, Mary Power/Linda Buckley, Joanne Fitxgerald/Sarah Moynihan, Majella Moynihan/Teresa Hayes who were pipped by the former All Ireland champions in Thurles.

Best of luck to our Junior cup team are in action this coming Saturday with an away tie to Mallow.

SOCIETY REVIEWS

We received a wonderful review from the AIB Cork & Waterford Golf Society who visited us last week. It was so lovely to receive such wonderful compliments on our course and restaurant. JUNIOR NEWS

We had another great turn out of Junior Golfers at last Saturday’s group golf lesson with our Pro David Hayes. Special thanks to James Hayes for assisting on the day. Lessons take place every Saturday at 3pm. All are welcome.

Our Junior Membership for 2023 is €77 for ages 6 – 12 and €107 for ages 13 – 18. Children will have great fun at Dungarvan Golf Club, learn to play golf, make new friends and develop life skills. Please contact the office to request an application form.

We enjoyed a great day last Wednesday for our weekly competition. Please note our next outing will be to Waterford Castle Golf Club on Wednesday 21^st June. 1^st Maeve Carthy (35) 17pts, 2^nd Kolette Enright (29) 16pts, 3^rd Maria Ryan (27) 15pts. Our next competition is on Wed 17^th May from 12 noon – 1.30pm.

Another full timesheet for our 60.com competition on Wednesday 10^th May. The weather was good and the golf was better. The winners were: 1^st John Condon 19pts, 2^nd Jack Elstead 19pts, 3^rd Maurice Crotty 18pts. If you are interested in social golf and are over 60 then put your name on the timesheet any week and join us.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

We had glorious sunshine for our foursomes last Friday after very wet conditions the previous evening. This encouraged lots of our supporters to return which was very encouraging. Many thanks to John Moran who ran the event so efficiently.

We have no foursomes this Friday (May 19) due to our fundraiser the Centenary Classic. We would encourage as many as possible to enter a team and enjoy the fun. Classics are great social events.

GET INTO GOLF 2021 / 2022
At the moment, at six pm on Tuesday evenings we are running a nine-hole qualifying competition specifically for these Get into Golf ladies in an effort to introduce them to competitions and improve their game. It is only open to those who have a handicap higher than 36. So far there is a huge interest and it is going well.

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto 4 draw today on Friday, 12th May. This was Week 52 of 52.
The numbers drawn were 2, 18, 20 and 22. The jackpot was €10,000 and there was no winner. The jackpot remains at €10,000 for the next draw. There were two match 3 winners.
