OPEN CLUB CLASSIC

Our popular annual Open Club Classic will take place from Monday 14^th to Sunday 20^th of August. Our timesheet is open for bookings online or please call us on 058-43310 to book in your team of four. Entries are €100 per team and we have some fantastic prizes on offer this year. We will also have a raffle with lots of great prizes to be won. Tickets for the raffle are on sale in the office. We look forward to welcoming lots of visitors along with our members to the club over the week. Please spread the word!!

PRESIDENTS SCRAMBLE

Our re-scheduled Presidents Scramble takes place this Wednesday 9th August at 5.30pm, shotgun start. There are some tee times still available and it is always a lovely event for our members. Entry is €10. 

JB CARR TEAM

Our JB Carr team won the first leg of the Munster final against Woodstock Golf Club last Monday 31st July with a lead of 5-0.  A fantastic win for the team and team managers. Thank you to all our members who came out to support them on home turf. They play the second leg of the Munster Final on Tuesday, 8th August. It’s a 1pm start in Woodstock GC, Ennis. All support is welcome. The 48^th  Annual Left-Handers Competition will be played over the weekend 24th. -27th. August. Open to Ladies & Gentlemen (Members Only) 18 Hole Stableford. All left-handed players please support competition.

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a great turnout again for our Junior Lessons on Saturday. Thank you to all the parents who assist with lessons. Lessons continue every Saturday at 3pm for the duration of the Summer and cost €5. No need to book! If your child is interested in joining as a junior member please give us a call for further information. 

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
These scrambles are proving to be a great success with a full timesheet yet again. Last Sunday we  had some of our new Get into Golf ladies and men which is great to help them integrate into the club and meet others. The clubhouse was buzzing afterwards as they waited for the results.

PAST & PRESENT LADY CAPTAINS/PRESIDENTS

Our annual Open Past & Present Lady Captains/Presidents competition will take place on Sunday 13^th August. This popular competition has booked up quickly so we have added some extra tee times to the timesheet for members and visitors.

YOUNGONES

Our Youngones were playing on Wed 2^nd August. 1^st Maeve Fitzgerald (31) 19pts, 2^nd Mary Buckley (33) 19pts, 3^rd Colette O’Mahony (28) 18pts. There will be no Youngones for the next to weeks, the Presidents Scramble takes place on 9^th August and our Classic on 16^th August.  We will be back in action on Wednesday 23^rd at a later time of 12.30pm.

60.COM

We had a packed timesheet for our 60.com on Wednesday 2^nd August. While we had some rain during the round it did not impact the scoring which was exceptional. The winners were: 1^st Jack Elstead 24pts, 2^nd Nial Herlihy 23pts, 3^rd Stephen Lynch 19pts

We will have no 60.com for the next two week due to the President’s scramble on 9^th August and the Club Classic on 16^th August. Our outing in Faithlegg Golf Club takes place on 23^rd August. Please support the Classic as it is our main golf fundraiser of the year. If you are interested in social golf and are over 60 years of age you are welcome to join us any Wednesday – just put your name on the timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

Last Friday was an ideal day for golf – no rain or wind and the sun was actually shining for a while! We had a full timesheet and thanks to everyone for supporting the competition. We really appreciate it.1st Stephen Lynch and Lucy Frost 29 1/4, 2nd Garry Kennedy and Tom Frost 33 3/4, 3rd Denis Buckley and Pat Crowley 34 3/4. We are back again this Friday Aug 11. If you would like nine holes of Scotch Foursomes why not join us and enjoy some social golf.

GET INTO GOLF 2023

Our new golfers are very active and are regularly out on the course or down in the practice area improving their golf. A lot of them are getting their cards filled for handicaps and are showing great potential . Golf is a long apprentice but you will get there.

GET INTO GOLF 9H QUALIFYING COMPETITION
Last Tuesday evening was very wet and consequently entries were down. Nonetheless, we had a few diehards who braved the elements and played. Well done. Winner: Mary O’Donnell 16 pts

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto 5 draw on Friday, 4th Aug. This was Week 12 of 52. The numbers drawn were 1, 12, 14 and 21. The jackpot was €10,000 and there was no winner. There was one match 3 winner. A group entry by Tom Conway, George Walsh, Hugh O’Carroll and Dermott Kelly. They win €100. All funds are directed to course improvement projects.
