OPEN CLUB CLASSIC

A big thank you to everyone who supported our open club classic last week by entering teams or purchasing raffle tickets.  The week was a great success for our club with 153 teams playing over the seven days. The compliments received on our course and club house facilities from visitors were all very positive and even the weather was on our side every day except when Storm Betty decided to visit us on Friday!

Our raffle has once again proven very popular and we have extended the draw date to coincide with the presentation of prizes in the clubhouse on Saturday 26^th August at 4pm.

JB CARR & JUNIOR BOYS ALL IRELAND FINALS

With our JB Carr team and our Juniors both reaching the All-Ireland Finals we propose a couple of fundraising initiatives to support the needs of both teams. A donation bucket will be in the clubhouse from next weekend and appreciate any support you can give. We also plan on running a scramble with all proceeds going towards the team expenses.

ANNUAL LEFT HANDERS COMPETITION
The 48^th Annual Left-Handers Competition will be played over the weekend 24th. -27th. August. Open to Ladies & Gentlemen (Members Only) 18 Hole Stableford. All left-handed players please support this competition.

AUTUMN OPEN WEEK – OCTOBER 2023

Our annual autumn open week will take place from Monday 2^nd to Sunday 8^th October. This is always a popular week on our golf calendar and bookings will be open online soon.

LADIES AWAY GOLF TRIP

Our Ladies Away golf trip itinerary has been sent by email to members. On Monday 25th September we travel to Carlow Golf Club, tee time from 12 Noon playing in 4’s. Later that evening we book in to Mount Wolseley Hotel (about 10 mins drive). B&B to include 4 course dinner. On Tuesday 26th September, Breakfast at Hotel and 18H Golf tee time from 9.30am. Please add your name on the notice in the Ladies locker room for what promises to be a lovely few days away.

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a great turnout again for our Junior Lessons on Saturday. Thank you to Niamh Reynolds and Alan O’Donnell for their invaluable assistance. Lessons continue every Saturday at 3pm and cost €5. No need to book! If your child is interested in joining as a junior member, please give us a call for an application form.

We had no Youngones competition last week due to the Open Classic but we are back in action this Wednesday 23^rd with a busy timesheet of ladies booked in!

We are off on our outing to Faithlegg Golf Club on Wednesday 23^rd August and no doubt a great day will be had by all!

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

We had no foursomes last Friday as the whole week was given over to our very successful classic which is the main fundraiser for our club. A huge thanks to our members and visitors who supported the classic to ensure its success. We are back next Friday Aug 25^th with our Scotch Foursomes starting at 9.30am. Booking is brisk so go online and book your place. We would love to see you there.

GET INTO GOLF 9H QUALIFYING COMPETITION

This competition returned to the fairways this week. It is hugely popular with our new golfers as it is only nine holes and facilitates our ‘working golfers’. First tee time is six pm and entry fee is €2. Just go online and book your place.

REFRESHER LESSONS
Plans are being put in place to run refresher golf lessons for our new golfers. These lessons are invaluable at this stage as they help to upskill and improve techniques for our new members.

LOTTO DRAW RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto 5 draw on Friday, 18th Aug. This was Week 14 of 52. The numbers drawn were 6, 13, 24 and 26. The jackpot was €10,000 and there was no winner. The jackpot remains at €10,000 for the next draw. There was one match 3 winner. Garry Kennedy wins €100. The next draw will take place on Friday, 25/08/2023 3.00pm. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course.

We have quite a number of societies booked in for September and have limited available dates at the weekend but we do have some available dates during the week. DUNGARVAN GOLF TRIANGLE

The Dungarvan Golf Triangle has gone from strength to strength with a high number of visitor bookings for all three clubs this summer. The triangle is excellent value for money, it costs €84 to play Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford Golf Clubs. For bookings, please call us on 058-43310.
