LADIES SPRING LEAGUE

At last, we are in a position to announce the winners of the inaugural Spring League individual competition. I think it’s fair to say that there was added excitement when we didn’t know who the leaders were due the monthly list being published in random order.  Indeed, behind the scenes, the leaderboard changed from start to finish, with the number of cards entered being taken into consideration. That certainly got us out to play despite the challenging weather. Well done to all who stuck with the competition and played as often as conditions allowed. The winners can now be revealed.

Winner Cat A with 96 pts was Louise Moloney, 2nd place went to Ina Considine with 91 pts.

Winner Cat B with 84 pts was Mary Buckley and 2nd with 79 pts was Patricia Butler.

Presentation of prizes will now take place at the end of May, and we hope to run the competition again next year.

GET INTO GOLF PROGRAMME

Due to the adverse weather conditions, we have made the decision to postpone the start date of our Get into Golf Programme until further notice. Our Information evening will also be deferred to a later date in April. Hopefully we see improvements in the weather and we can get all our eager Get Into Golf men and ladies out on our course.

There are a few places available in both our Men’s & Ladies groups.  If you are a beginner to golf then this is the course for you! MUNSTER TROPHY WIN

Congratulations to our team, caddies and managers Pat Flanagan and Marianne Mulcahy for a wonderful win over the Goldcoast on Sunday last, April 14th in the first round of the Munster Trophy competition. 3 of our team were playing in the Goldcoast where everyone battled hard. Bridget Ahern had a decisive win on the 14th, Carmel O’Brien played steady golf and won on the 18th, and June James met formidable opposition but enjoyed the challenge and gave if her all.  Caddies Breda McCarthy, Betty O’Brien and Bernie Hayes were full of course knowledge to assist.

Meanwhile, on the home course, our other 2 team members were enjoying 2 closely run matches.  Bernie Hayes with caddy Grace Hayes fought hard but were finally beaten on the 17th while our rooky team member Edel Walsh with caddy Ann Stack held their nerve and secured the necessary win also on the 17th.

It was great to see support at both venues from both teams and The Goldcoast were very gracious in defeat and wished us well in the next round. There was great analysis of the match afterwards when we enjoyed Toms excellent cooking….and the warmth of the clubhouse! Best of luck to the team in the next round, where we will take on Lismore.
