The glorious weather over the weekend was much welcomed by all our members and visitors alike! Dungarvan was the place to be this weekend with the fantastic food festival bringing lots of visitors to our beautiful town. We had plenty of visitors also over the weekend with two large groups enjoying our course last Saturday. Our course staff have worked incredibly hard to ensure our course was in great condition, no mean feat after months of rain!  

UPCOMING EVENTS

We have some great open competitions coming up in May. First up on Bank Holiday Monday 6^th of May our popular Open 18H champagne scramble. This three-person scramble promises to book up fast! On Tuesday 7^th May we hold an Open Ladies 18H Singles kindly sponsored by Capelli Hair Salon. We welcome the South Munster Seniors on Wednesday 8^th May. From Thurs 9^th – 12^th May we hold our Centenary Open Classic. There are some great prizes to be won! Bookings for all these are open online and we look forward to welcoming lots of visitors to share in celebrating our Centenary with us.

SENIOR MENS INTERCLUB

Our Senior Men’s InterClub team were at home to Tramore GC last Saturday in the second round of the East Munster Region. The match score stood at 2 wins each and one match all square after 18 holes when darkness fell on Saturday night. The sudden death playoff resumed on Sunday morning and we secured the win on the third tie hole when Matt Curran sank a 50 foot birdie putt from the front fringe. Well done to Matt and his partner, Declan Walsh and to the full panel of players. Matt and Declan’s opponents were Tim O’Brien and William Moore who also had to return on Sunday morning.  We will meet the winners of Faithlegg v’s West Waterford in the third round.

GET INTO GOLF PROGRAMME

Our Get Into Golf Information night will take place on Tuesday 30^th April at 7pm in the clubhouse. We encourage all those signed up for this years Get Into Golf lessons to attend & sign up for the programme. Our Ladies lessons will commence on Tuesday 7^th May and our Men’s lessons will commence on Monday 20^th May.

WOMEN IN GOLF CHARTER GOLD AWARD

Dungarvan Golf Club received the Women in Golf Charter Gold Standard Award before the recent Golf Ireland Annual General Meeting. The Award is the highest award clubs can receive in delivering gender equality within their club. This award is a recognition within the club in supporting the recruitment, retention, and progression of women in the sport of golf. We are delighted to receive this recognition from Golf Ireland and special thanks to all our committees who work hard to ensure programmes such as our Ladies Get Into Golf have been so successful.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP & LESSONS

Our Junior lessons return on Saturday 4^th May! These lessons are run by our Pro David Hayes and take place every Saturday at 3pm. No need to sign up just come along on the day for great fun, make new friends and learn golf skills!

If your child would like to join as a junior member, please contact the office as we have great joining rates of €70 for ages 6 – 12 and €100 for ages 13 -18 (plus €7 Golf Ireland Levy). Despite many sporting fixtures and a very successful Food Festival in Dungarvan,

LAUNCH OF LOTTO 6

It is that time of the year to check the renewal of your annual €90.00 ticket. Lotto 1,2 3,4 and 5 has proved to be a great success to date and the lotto committee would like to thank members for supporting this necessary fundraiser for the important works which have been carried out on the course thus far. The Lotto Committee would request your continued support by renewing your annual ticket for the coming year, or purchase one for the first time.

If you purchase the annual €90.00 ticket for Lotto 6 on or before the 30th April 2024 you will be eligible for a draw for the following:
1. Chamber voucher for €100.00.

YOUNGONES

We had a number of ladies returning to golf after a Winter break! The day was bright and dry and conditions were ideal for golf. Winner: – Kate Morrissey 14pts. Well done Kate you came back with a flourish. We are back again this Wednesday Apr 24. Booking is brisk.

60.COM

Our 60.com Competition took place on Wednesday 17th April with vastly improved conditions. Everyone welcomed the fine weather after a dreadful winter. The winners were: -1^st Patrick Cumiskey 21Pts, 2^nd Tim Browne19Pts. If you’re interested in social golf, and over 60 years of age, come and join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
Last Friday we had blue skies and sun and our course was in amazing condition after such a long wet spell. I’d like to complement our course staff for working tirelessly last week to achieve this. 1^st Michael Garrigan and Ellen Power 39 ¾. 2^nd Ned and Kate Morrissey 47. We are back again this Friday (April 26). Booking is open so go online and book your place. We play nine holes Scoth foursomes and is great fun.

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto 5 draw on Friday, 19th April. This was Week 49 of 52.
The numbers drawn were 9, 12, 16 and 17. The jackpot was €7,000, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €7,100 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner – Peter Firth – who wins €100.

Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website www.dungarvangolfclub.com or in the clubhouse. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course. Our next draw is on Friday 26^th April.
