INTERMEDIATE FOURSOMES MATCH

Our intermediate team under the management of Angela Murphy and Maria Kiersey played their first-round match against Lismore away on Sunday, and sad to report that they were beaten. Weather conditions were terrible, some of the pairs were caught out without wet gear as the sun was shining at the start of the match, but soon deteriorated to include lashing rain, thunder and hail. Even the spectators were complaining!

Despite this, our team played so courageously. Carmel O’Brien and Teresa Hayes won their

match on the 16th and were glad to change into warm clothes. Unfortunately, our other pairs were not so lucky. They were Majella Moynihan and Joanne Lannen; Joanne Fitzgerald and Maeve Morrissey; Linda Buckley and June James. A lovely hot dinner awaited us in the clubhouse at the end, and we wish Lismore all the best as they advance to the next round.

Next Sunday, we meet Lismore again in the Revive Active match with 3 playing there and 2 at home. We wish that team all the best and hope to reverse the score of Sunday. Please support the team by dropping in to either match. It’s very encouraging to have to have someone cheer on the players.

PIERCE PURCELL

Our Pierce Purcell team under the management of Pat Stack played the Goldcoast Golf Club last Sunday. Our team put up a good fight and competed well but were beaten on the day.
