CENTENARY LAUNCH & PUBLICATION
We are pleased to announce that we launched our Centenary Book last Friday, after a fun scramble with members and guests. The book captures the compelling history of the club and the work carried out by its officers, committees, staff, volunteers, and members, who have developed and enhanced the club over the past 100 years. We had a great night in the clubhouse and sales of the book were fantastic. Thank you to everyone who purchased on the night.
The launch of the book commences a series of planned events to mark this milestone in the club’s history. These include a golf classic this week over four days, mixed ladies and gents’ event mid-May and a family teams’ event in late May. Further events will take place during the summer and later in the year. The book will be on sale in the office, pro shop and from the editor, Pat McCarthy and his team. The cost of the book, which was produced without sponsorship, is €20. Buy early before stocks run out!
CENTENARY OPEN CLASSIC
Our first big Centenary competition is our Centenary Classic which runs from Thurs 9th – 12th May. The weather forecast is looking good too! There are some great prizes to be won! Teams of four – €80 per team and re-entry €15pp. Bookings for all these are open online or call the office on 058-43310. We look forward to welcoming lots of members and visitors.

We have a great joining rate for new members €400 (+ €28 Golf Ireland fee) for the first year. We also have Country Membership, Student, Junior and family rates available. Our membership application form is available on our website, by emailing office@dungarvangolfclub.com or call us.
GET INTO GOLF INFORMATION MEETING
There was a great buzz in the clubhouse last Tuesday night as our new golfers gathered to hear about our Get into Golf programme. A lot of work went into preparing the event and the Get into Golf Committee were there in force to meet and greet our visitors. Our President June James, Captains Liam Hansbury and Kolette Enright and Vice Captain Martin Landers were also in attendance. Fiona O’Brien (Year One) and Patrick Cumiskey (Year Two) spoke positively about their experiences as part of the Get into Golf programme. Presently we have forty three potential members with a waiting list in place. Our lessons for ladies begin on Tuesday May 7 and for men on Monday May 13 with our PGA Professional David Hayes. We welcome our new members and look forward to working with them going forward.
JB CARR TEAM
Our JB Carr team play Waterford GC on Tuesday 7th May. The match is at home and commences at 1.10pm. All support welcome. The JB Carr team is for men aged 60+ and there are 5 Scotch Foursomes matches.
JUNIOR LESSONS & MEMBERSHIP
Our Junior lessons started back last Saturday. We were thrilled to have such a big group of junior golfers for the first day back! Everyone had great fun with lots of laughter filling the air which was a delight to hear. These lessons are run by our Pro David Hayes and take place every Saturday at 3pm. No need to sign up just come along – €5 per lesson.
If your child would like to join as a junior member, please contact the office as we have great joining rates of €70 for ages 6 – 12 and €100 for ages 13 -18 (plus €7 Golf Ireland Levy). Please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com for an application form. Children will have great fun at Dungarvan Golf Club, learn to play golf, make new friends and develop life skills. A reminder to our Junior members, that subscriptions for 2024 are now due for payment.

It is that time of the year to check the renewal of your annual €90.00 ticket. Lotto 1,2 3,4 and 5 has proved to be a great success to date and the lotto committee would like to thank members for supporting this necessary fundraiser for the important works which have been carried out on the course thus far. The Lotto Committee would request your continued support by renewing your annual ticket for the coming year, or purchase one for the first time.
If you purchase the annual €90.00 ticket for Lotto 6 on or before the 31st May 2024 you will be eligible for a draw for the following:1. Chamber voucher for €100.00.2. JUNIOR RESULTS
Congratulations to our Junior Boys, Harry Breen, Rody Morrissey, AJ Hayes, Rory McKeown and Mattie Mullaney who won their match on Saturday in the Irish Junior Foursomes away to Fermoy. Fantastic performance by the boys winning by 11 holes. The boys played West Waterford on Sunday in the Fred Daly winning 5 nil. Thank you to Fermoy and West Waterford GC for two good days of golf.

We were all back in action in the sunshine last Wednesday with 30 ladies playing in our weekly competition. We had plenty of fun and and chats! 1st Antoinette Hurley (28) 16pts, 2nd Helen O’Neill (45) 15pts, 3rd Bernie Hayes (23) 14pts. Our next competition is on Wednesday 8th at a later time of 12.50pm – 2.10pm.

Another fulltime sheet for our 60.com competition on 1st May. The rain coming back was unhelpful to the course and it was playing very long. Despite this we had some excellent scores: 1st Mossie MacNamara 24pts, 2nd Adrian O’Driscoll 19pts. We have our first outing of 2024 on Wednesday 8th May to Tipperary Golf Club. Bookings have been very busy to-date. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, put your name on our timesheet and join us any Wednesday.
FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
Due to the Centenary Spring Classic (May 10) and an Open Centenary Mixed Competition on Friday May 17 we won’t have Fun Friday Foursomes until Fri May 24. In the meantime there are a lot of Centenary competitions and I would encourage you to participate. This is a special year in the club with various events which have been organised by our hardworking Centenary committee. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Fri May 24.
LOTTO RESULTS
We had our weekly Lotto 5 draw on Friday, 3rd May. This was Week 51 of 52. The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 19 and 23. The jackpot was €2,000 and there was no winner. The jackpot is €2,100 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner – John Warren – who wins €100. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course. Our next draw is on Friday 10th May.
