ALLIANZ IRISH GOLFERS OFFICERS CHALLENGE

Congratulations to our Captains Kolette Enright, Liam Hansbury and our President June James who won the regional final of the Allianz, Golfsure/Irish Golfer Officer’s Challenge at Cork Golf Club last week. We wish them all the best in the final which takes place next month at the K Club.

LEFT-HANDERS NEWS
The 49^th Annual lefthanders competition for 2024 will be played on Thursday 26^th, Friday 27^th & Saturday 28^th September. Competition is open to Ladies and Gentleman (Members only). Full details are posted in locker rooms.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

A  fantastic turnout again last Saturday for our Junior Coaching. Thanks to Niamg, Alan, James & Liam for their invaluable assistance. The kids had a blast! Coaching will continue every Saturday at 3pm for September. Some of our Pre Juniors took to the course on Sunday under the guidance from Tom Conway, Edel Walsh, Alan O’Donnell and James Hayes. Emphasis is on rules, etiquette and safety. We will host another Pre Junior Get Into Golf on Sunday 22^nd September for members. If you can give one hour, we would appreciate your assistance in bringing our little golfers from the practice ground to the golf course. Contact David in the Pro Shop.

Our first major of the season takes place on Sunday 15^th September with the Knocknagranagh Shield. This is our first event of seven culminating in our Golfer of the Year kindly sponsored by Mr. Paul O’Riordan. All events are members only. YOUNGONES

It was a busy timesheet last Wednesday with South Munster Seniors playing in the morning so we had a later start for our weekly competition. 1^st Mary Power (16) 18pts CB, 2^nd Teresa Hayes (19) 18pts. Our next competition is this Wednesday, front 9 again at later time due to visiting societies 12.50 – 13.40pm.

60.COM

Our 60.com Competition on Wednesday the 4th of September had mixed weather as is normal in Autumn with a mixture of sunshine and showers. Nonetheless we had a full timesheet and some excellent scores. Results: 1^st Jack Elstead 24pts, 2^nd Ian Gourlay 20pts, 3^rd Denis Buckley 19pts. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
It was great to see so many waiting to participate in this fun event last Friday morning. We were delighted to welcome John Morgan who joined us for the first time.

GET INTO GOLF 9H QUALIFYING COMPETITION
This competition takes place each Tuesday evening at 6 pm. It is proving really popular with number of entrants increasing each week. Winner on 3/09/24 – Carol Walsh 16 pts

GET INTO GOLF SOCIAL EVENING (Mixed)
Due to bad weather this event had to be rescheduled to Monday Sept 16.
Starting time at 6 pm. This is a fun scramble with the emphasis on social to enable our new members to meet and play a few holes of golf. Presentation and refreshments in the bar later. Keep the date free.

GET INTO GOLF HANDICAPS
As some of our new golfers are ready to submit cards for handicaps, our ladies with handicaps will accompany them out on the course on Monday evening Sept 9.

GET INTO GOLF REFRESHER LESSONS
David Hayes completed this session of lessons last Monday evening with our new golfers. By all accounts we have some very good golfers going forward. Many thanks to David for being so generous with his time.

DIVOTS, BUNKERS & PITCHMARKS

Members are reminded to please ensure that you replace divots, rake bunkers and repaid pitch marks on the greens.

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto 6 draw on Friday, 6th September. This was Week 17 of 52.
The numbers drawn were 8, 14, 18 and 22. The jackpot was €3,400, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €3,500 for the next draw. We had three match 3 winners – James & Jackie Cosgrave, Gerard Boland and Ronan McMahon – who win €34 each. The next draw will take place on Friday 13^th September at 3.30pm. Thank you to everyone who supports our Lotto. All funds raised are used to develop our course.
