WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS

We extend a warm welcome to all our new members who have joined up so far this year, new member numbers have increased greatly in the past few months and the fine weather has everyone thinking of golf! We are particularly delighted to welcome so many new junior members to our club. Our juniors members are the future of our club and it is so great to see so many new recruits joining this year. UPCOMING OPEN COMPETITIONS

We have lots of Open Competitions coming up. Our next Open Scramble is on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd June. Our next Ladies Open Competition is a Team of Four Florida Scramble on Tuesday 3rd June. Our Scratch Cups take place on Sunday 15th June and the timesheet is filling up fast. Every week we have our Monday Open Seniors Singles Gents/Ladies (Age 50+) and the Open Gents Singles S/F every Thursday kindly sponsored by Leo Crawford. Bookings available online or call 058-43310.

NINE & DINE COMPETITION

We are excited to announce our new Nine & Dine Open 9 Hole competition which will take place on selected Friday evenings during the summer. The first competition date is this Friday 16th May and bookings are open online. We hope you can join us and enjoy nine holes of golf followed by a delicious golfer’s grill – all for €20! 

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a fabulous turnout again for our Junior Lessons last Saturday. Many thanks to Alan O’Donnell, James Hayes and Liam Browne for their invaluable assistance. Lessons will continue again next Saturday at 3pm.

Adult member assistance is required next Saturday 17th May at 4pm for one hour. We are taking our Junior & Pre-Junior members onto the course for an hour to teach them course etiquette, pitching pitch marks, turn of play, etc. Please contact David at 0862681701 if you can assist. This is our second such outing and we will continue to do it every second week. Our sincerest thanks to Tom Conway, Brid Scanlan, Margaret Moloney, Will Gough, Grace Hayes, Mary Phelan, Walter Cullinane and Carmel Fox for making our first outing such a success. 

Practice for our Fred Daly, Interclub and Junior Foursomes continues next Friday at 5pm under the watchful eye of Club Professional David Hayes. We face a tough Tramore team on Saturday 24th May.

BRIDGE NIGHT FUNDRAISER

The Ladies Committee of Dungarvan Golf Club held a Bridge Night on Friday May 9th to raise funds for the installation of a lift. There was a great attendance with an entry of fifteen tables which led to a great atmosphere in the club house.  A big thank you to June James and Ina Considine who facilitated the playing of the bridge on the night. There was a very well supported raffle and contributions from people who were unable to attend on the night which added to the amount raised which was in and around €1000. Final figure to be decided. We had a perfect day for golf on Wednesday 7 May. The sun shone throughout the afternoon and the course conditions were excellent. As usual we had a full-time sheet. The results were: 1st PJ Kindregan 22pts, 2nd Mossie Walsh 21pts, 3rd Pat Power 21pts. If you’re interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
We broke records last Friday with the numbers we had playing in the foursomes. We were delighted to welcome our Vice Captain Pat Cumiskey who joined us. The foursomes are turning into a real social event with the golf at 9 am and the coffee and chat at 11 am.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
We had a large turnout for the scramble last Sunday evening despite a fall of rain just as we were about to begin. I would like to thank our Captain Eddie Moynihan for joining us for the event. Thanks also to Cait Herlihy and Marianne Mulcahy for running the event. We also appreciate the hospitality provided by Tom and his staff in the bar.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Our new ladies took to the fairways last Wednesday evening for the first time! A huge thanks to the ladies who accompanied them. There is much to learn on these evenings including course etiquette and the many rules which are part of the game of golf. This will continue for the next three weeks from 7-8 pm.

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 9th May. The numbers drawn were 5, 10, 18 and 21. The jackpot was €6,900, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €7,000 for the next draw.
We had three match 3 winners – Queenie Cummins, Jerry McCarthy and David P Byrne – who win €34 each. This draw was draw 52 of Lotto 6. We will be launching Lotto 7 next week on May 16th. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.

PRO SHOP
Our Proshop is geared up for the new Season. Resident Professional David has all the
latest offerings from the major brands including the Qi35 from TaylorMade, M Craft putters from Mizuno and much more. As always David offers professional advice so ensure you get the most out of your game. TaylorMade will be here on Tuesday 20th May.
