CONDOLENCES

We extend our sincere condolences to our Head Greenskeeper Anthony Morrissey on the passing of his mother Marian Morrissey (Nee Norris) and sister of club member Johnny Norris. Our thoughts are with Anthony and his family at this time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Our new golfers are moving towards the end of phase one of the Get into Golfprogramme. We will host our Gala night on Wed Jun 4 in the clubhouse. On that evening, we will outline clearly what is involved in phase two – costs, entitlements etc. In the meantime, thanks to our generous ladies and men who are giving an hour of their time each week to our new golfers out on the golf course.

UPCOMING OPEN COMPETITIONS

We have lots of Open Competitions coming up. Our next Open Scramble is on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd June. Our next Ladies Open Competition is a Team of Four Florida Scramble on Tuesday 3rd June. Our Scratch Cups take place on Sunday 15th June and the timesheet is filling up fast. Every week we have our Monday Open Seniors Singles Gents/Ladies (Age 50+) and the Open Gents Singles S/F every Thursday kindly sponsored by Leo Crawford. Bookings available online or call 058-43310.

NINE & DINE COMPETITION

Our new Nine & Dine Open 9 Hole competition got off to a great start last Friday and we were delighted to welcome visitors along with members who played 9 holes and had a delicious meal afterwards. We hope you can join us this Friday 23rd and enjoy nine holes of golf followed by a delicious golfer’s grill – all for €20! 

ATEC 9 HOLE COMPETITION

The A-TEC 9 hole competition started last week kindly sponsored by club member Liam Hansbury’s Company A-TEC Security. It will run over 18 weeks and conclude on Tuesday 16th September. Members can enter at any time after 3pm any day of the week and is played on the front nine holes only. Full competition format has been emailed to members.

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a fabulous turnout again for our Junior Lessons last Saturday. Almost sixty little golfers were put thru’ their paces. Many thanks to Alan Thomas, James Hayes and Liam Browne for their invaluable assistance. Lessons will continue again next Saturday at 3pm.

Following the lesson, our members took to the course under the guidance of Tom Conway, Larry Fahy, Mary Phelan, Will Gough, Pat Power, Kolette Enright, Colette Power, Bernie Lynch and Patricia Butler. Our Juniors were shown important course etiquette and course safety. Our sincerest thanks to our members. Our On- Course practise will continue on Saturday 14th June.

Practice for our Fred Daly, Interclub and Junior Foursomes continues next Friday at 5pm under the watchful eye of Club Professional David Hayes. Our team of Mattie Mullaney, AJ Hayes James O’Donnell, Rory McKeown and Patrick Mullaney face a tough Tramore team on Saturday 24th May in the Irish Junior Foursomes.

Congrats to junior Fionnain Drohan on his remarkable achievement last week when he made three 2’s in a four hole stretch. He managed to make a two on Holes 5,7 and 8. Surely an unmatched record. Our 60.com was played in sunny, bright and warm conditions on Wednesday 14 May. We had a full timesheet and incredible scores. The winners were 1st Jack Elstead 26 pts, 2nd Rogie O’Connor 25 pts, 3rd Pat Crowley 23 pts. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
Once again we had large numbers for our foursomes last Friday morning. It is a very popular event despite an early start at 9 am. 1st John Morgan and Ellen Power 24 ¼, 2nd Martin Rousse and Anne Lernihan 27 ¾, 3rd Ned Morrissey and Frances Flahavan 38 ¼, 4th Kolette Enright and Geraldine Veale 39 ½. We are back again this Friday morning. Shotgun start at 9am.


LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 16th May. The numbers drawn were 2, 10, 13 and 15. The jackpot was €7,000, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €7,100 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner – Donal Dempsey – who wins €100. This was draw 1 of Lotto 7. Thanks to all who have purchased their lotto 7 annual ticket. Annual tickets can be purchased at the office or on line through the club website. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.

Our Proshop is geared up for the new Season. Resident Professional David has all the
latest offerings from the major brands including the Qi35 from TaylorMade, M Craft putters from Mizuno and much more. As always David offers professional advice so ensure you get the most out of your game. TaylorMade will be here on Tuesday 20th May.
