CAPTAINS PRIZE

This weekend, our Captains Prize kindly presented by Edward Moynihan, will be played from Friday 6th June to Sunday 8th June 2025. We wish Captain Edward and his family and friends the very best wishes for his special weekend of golf.  We hope the weather is in our favour and everyone enjoys the weekend! The timesheets are open for bookings and members wishing to participate are requested to enter one of the qualifying rounds on Friday 6th or Saturday 7th June.

The Captains Prize will be played off the blue tees and will be an 18H stroke-play competition with top 80 and ties qualifying for Sunday’s final round. An alternative to playing in Captains Prize is available for gents playing off the green tees; the Captains Plate, an 18H one day only competition. A Captains Prize to the Ladies will also be played on Friday and Saturday. An email has been sent to all members with full details. We wish everyone competing the very best of luck. The presentation of prizes will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday 8th June at 8pm. Members, partners and family are cordially invited to attend.

CAPTAINS SCRAMBLE

The Captain’s 9 Hole scramble will take place on Wednesday 4th June at 5.30pm. Please add your name to the timesheet any time between 1pm – 5.20pm. The scramble is a shotgun start at 5.30pm sharp. Entry is €10 and €5 for juniors. Entries will close at 6pm on Tuesday the 3rd of June. Prizegiving and finger food will be provided in the clubhouse after finish of play.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Our Information/Gala evening is scheduled to take place on Monday Jun 9 at 7 pm. This is a joint event for our new ladies and gentlemen. Phase one of the Get into Golf programme is over and our new golfers can’t wait to move forward and practice all they have learned so far. Both groups are really good and very enthusiastic and have been spending a lot of time on our practice area. They will now have access to the golf course and some will be thinking of working on their handicaps. We wish them the very best going forward.

SENIOR MENS INTERCLUB TEAM – VINCENT NEVIN TROPHY

On Saturday, we defeated Faithlegg GC in Round 1 on a 4-1 scoreline. This was a home match for us. We play the winners of Waterford Castle v’s Tramore in Round 2 and it must be played on or before 30th June.

SENIOR CUP TEAM

We played Tramore on Saturday and unfortunately we were beaten 3-2 in a very close matchHard luck to our Senior Cup team and team managers, thank you for representing our club. 

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Preparations are in place for our Gala evening as we approach the final week of phase one of our Get into Golf programme. This information evening is scheduled for Wed evening June 4 at 7pm and is open to all our 2025 Get into Golf participants. Application forms for phase two will be available on the night. Members of the Get into Golf Committee will attend to help our new golfers and answer any of their questions. Refreshments will be served.

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a very large group of eager golfers attend last Saturday’s Junior lessons. Thank you to all our much-valued volunteers who give up their time to assist our PRO David Hayes each week. For our Junior Members, the next on course practice session takes place on Saturday 14th June after lessons at 4pm. Junior members learn from our experienced members about course rules, etiquette and also play a few holes! If you would like to join your budding golfer as a member of our club our Pre Junior (age 6 – 12) fee is 82 euros and Junior (age 13 – 18) fee is 107 euros. Contact office@dungarvangolfclub.com to request an application form.

OPEN FORTNIGHT

Our Open Fortnight runs from Friday 20th June – Sunday 29th June and timesheets are open for bookings online. Thank you to all the generous sponsors for their support of our club. We have a great variety of competitions to choose from. 

MENS SINGLES MATCH PLAY

Entries for the Club Men’s Singles Match Play will be taken in the Men’s Locker Room. Please check email on entry details.  Entries must be lodged by Wed 11th June. The draw will be posted on Thursday June the 12th in the Men’s Locker room and Master Scoreboard. The first round must be completed by the morning of Thursday 3rd of July.

ATEC 9 HOLE COMPETITION

The A-TEC 9-hole competition is well underway kindly sponsored by club member Liam Hansbury’s Company A-TEC Security. It runs over 18 weeks and concludes on Tuesday 16th September. Members can enter at any time after 3pm any day of the week and is played on the front nine holes only. Full competition format has been emailed to members.

We had mixed weather last Wednesday for our weekly Youngones competition but that dud not deter us! 1st Patricia Butler (28) 19pts CB, 2nd Mary Buckley (24) 19pts CB, Bridget O’Shea (44) 19pts. We wish our Captain Eddie the very best for his Captains Prize this weekend. There is no Youngones competition this Wednesday and we hope everyone can play in the Captains Scramble on Wednesday. We are back on 11th June at 11am.

60 .com

Our 60 .com competition on Wednesday 28 May had, as usual, a full timesheet. The conditions were challenging with winds blowing across the course. This did not affect the scoring as we had some wonderful returns. The winners were: 1st Barra O’Tuama 22pts, 2nd Dave Byrne 20pts, 3rd Martin T. Landers 19pts

We do not have a 60 .com competition on 5th June as the Captain’s Scramble takes place that day. We wish the Captain Eddie Moynihan great success and good weather for his Captain’s Prize competition. LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 30th May. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 18 and 24.The jackpot was €7,200, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €7,300 for the next draw.
We had two match 3 winners – Ellen Power and Martin Grealish – who win €50 each. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
