LADY CAPTAINS PRIZE 2025

The Lady Captains Prize kindly presented by Bernie Lynch will be played this Saturday 26th July and Sunday 27th July 2025.

Lady Captain Bernie is a proud Limerick woman who spent her working life nursing in Dublin. The sunny South East and Dungarvan were her chosen location for retirement and she joined Dungarvan Golf Club over seven years ago where she made lots of wonderful friends. She got involved on committees and has been a great member of the club. We wish Bernie a wonderful weekend and look forward to welcoming her family and friends to the club for this special occasion.

The competition draw sheet is open for bookings online, entries close on Thursday evening.  Two 18-hole stroke rounds will be played and the aggregate score over the two rounds will determine the overall winner.  An 18-hole S/F competition for non-eligible members or those unable to play both days will be held on Saturday afternoon July 26th. A 9 Hole S/F qualifier is available on Saturday 26th also. A 9 Hole GIG S/F competition will be held on the Sunday afternoon. This competition is open to all Get into Golf players who have not previously entered an 18-hole S/F competition. A putting competition for new GIG members (2025) will be held on Sunday afternoon at approx. 3 pm. Entry fee €2. Please add your name to the list in locker room if you wish to take part in putting competition. All members and their families are invited to the presentation of prizes at 8pm on Sunday 27th July.

SENIOR MENS INTERCLUB TEAM

Our Senior Mens InterClub team had an excellent win over Williamstown GC on Saturday in round three of this year’s Vincent Nevin Trophy. This was a home fixture for us. It’s a Fourball Matchplay format.

Matt Curran and John G Moloney, Declan Walsh and Gerry Raher plus PJ Kindregan and John Norris had good wins in their matches to give us an insurmountable 3-0 lead and the two remaining matches were called in. The final result was 4-1 in our favour. We await details of our round four match.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

After a blistering defeat by Tipperary over Cork in the All Ireland final the social scramble took place last Sunday evening. PUTTING GREEN MARKERS

If you have been on the putting green practicing over the last few days you will have noticed that we have replaced the markers. This project was funded by the Sunday Social Scrambles which are organised by the Get into Golf Committee. We are indebted to our course manager Scholar who sourced the markers and to him and his ground staff for taking on the tedious task of assembling them and putting them in place.
Happy putting and hopefully it will improve your game.
