OPEN CLUB CLASSIC

The timesheet is filling up fast for our upcoming Open Club Classic which is taking place this Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th August. PRESIDENTS PRIZE WEEKEND

Our Presidents Prize kindly presented by David Crowley will take place on Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August. The timesheet will be open shortly for bookings. The Presidents Scramble will take place on Wednesday 27th August.

FUNDRAISING CHAMPAGNE SCRAMBLE

On Wednesday 6th August the Young Ones and 60.com organized a Champagne Scramble to help fund the installation of a lift in our clubhouse. Through the years many members have asked if it was possible to have a lift installed to assist those requiring increased accessibility and independence in the use of our clubhouse.

As soon as the timesheet was opened for this event our members booked every slot within two days. It is a credit to all our members that they show such generosity. The scramble was a resounding success and will be a major help with the funding of the project.

50TH ANNUAL LEFT-HANDERS TOURNAMENT – A GOLDEN CELEBRATION!
Calling all (Left-handed) Members! We’re thrilled to announce a truly special occasion at the club – the 50th Anniversary of our beloved Left-Handers Tournament! This milestone event promises to be one for the history books, and we would love for all our left-handed members to be a part of the celebration.

FUNDRAISING SCRAMBLE FOR FRED DALY TEAM

This Wednesday Aug 13th the Get into Golf committee are running a scramble to raise funds for our very successful juniors who have reached the Fred Daly All-Ireland quarter finals in Donabate Golf Club, Dublin. These young boys are the future of our club and we need to do all that is possible to support them in every way. Timesheet is live so please go online and book your place. It will be a fun event. Entry fee is €10pp. Please add your name to timesheet between 2pm – 4.50pm. SHOTGUN START AT 6PM.

MIXED FOURBALL WIN

Congratulations to the Mixed Fourball team and managers who defeated Clonakilty Golf Club 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 in the Munster Finals at Cahir Park Golf Club on Sunday. A fantastic win for our team! We are now through to the Quarter Finals which are on Saturday 6th September in Dundalk. Best of luck to all the team.

BRUEN TEAM

Our Jimmy Bruen team was narrowly beaten by Clonakilty Golf Club on the 18th hole in the East Munster Finals at Cahir Park on Sunday. Hard luck to all the team and managers. A very large contingent of members travelled to Cahir Park to support both teams.

JUNIOR NEWS

We encourage our Junior members to enter the fundraising scramble on Wednesday in support of our Fred Daly Junior team. Just book in on the allocated slot. It is a shotgun start whereby everyone starts at same time – 6pm!

Our Junior competitions are very popular every Wednesday with tee times filling up very fast, it is great to see so many juniors enjoying their golf at our club. We had a great turnout of juniors for our weekly lessons last Saturday and thank you to all our volunteers who gave up their time to assist our Pro David Hayes. Our Junior Club is thriving this year, we have lots of new junior members and really eager girls and boys taking to the fairways each week. Saturday coaching will continue this week at 3pm under the watchful eye of Club Professional David Hayes. If your child is aged 6 and over bring them along. All equipment is provided. Junior and Pre Junior competitions continue on Wednesday. Please book your time online. Any enquiries relating to our junior activities can be directed to our club professional David Hayes.  LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 8th August. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 25 and 26. The jackpot was €8,200, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €8,300 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner – Julianna Phelan – who wins €100. Many thanks for your support of our club Lotto. All funds are directed to course improvement projects All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
