PRESIDENTS PRIZE WEEKEND

Our Presidents Prize kindly presented by David Crowley will take place this Friday 29^th, Saturday 30^th and Sunday 31^st August. We wish David the very best wishes for his weekend.

It is wonderful to see packed timesheets on both Friday and Saturday. Please check emails for format and entry conditions.

There will also be an option to play in a separate 18 hole stableford competition on either Friday (the 29th) or Saturday (the 30th) off the white tee markers for men and red markers for woman. This is to facilitate any member who cannot take part in the main President’s 36 hole competition.  All members and their partners are invited to the Clubhouse on Sunday 31st August for the presentation of prizes at 7pm approx. Further details on this to follow.

The Presidents Scramble will take place on Wednesday 27^th August with a shotgun start at 6pm. Please add your name to timesheet by Tuesday the 26th August on or before 5 p.m. to facilitate a draw to be made.  Juniors with a handicap can play in the scramble. Entry €10.00 per person. €5.00 for juniors.

The Presentation of Prizes and raffle draw for our classic took place on Saturday in the clubhouse. Congratulations to all classic prize winners. 50^TH ANNUAL LEFT-HANDERS TOURNAMENT – A GOLDEN CELEBRATION!

The 50th Anniversary of our beloved Left-Handers Tournament was held over four days from Thursday 21^st to Sunday 24^th August! This milestone event was kindly sponsored by

SENIOR MENS INTERCLUB TEAM

Our Senior Mens InterClub team came up against a very strong Thurles team on Sunday in round 4 of this year’s competition for the Vincent Nevin Trophy. We lost matches 1, 3 and 5. Matches 2 and 4 were both all square when called in. The final result was 4-1 in favour of Thurles. The Thurles team may well be back in Dungarvan GC on 5th October when we host this year’s Munster Final for the Vincent Nevin Trophy. Best of luck to them.

JUNIOR NEWS

Our Summer Series came to an exciting conclusion last Sunday for our Pre Juniors. With a packed timesheet our little golfers eagerly took to the course in perfect conditions. Scoring was excellent and when the dust settled, Peter Hogan took the honours with 25 points winning on a countback from Alex Cusack. Jarlath Hurney took third from Ronan O’Donnell, all with 25 points. Best girl was Roisin Ni Raghnaigh with 20 points. This tournament was our final event in our Golfer of the Year. It was all to play for but eventually Alex Cusack was crowned our Champion Golfer for 2025. Ronan O’Donnell was runner up from Jarlath Hurney. A very fitting finale as the three lads were most consistent during the season. Our Autumn series will kick off on Sunday 7^th September. Thanks to all involved, particularly the golfers and Parents/Caddies.

We had a great turnout of juniors for our weekly lessons last Saturday and thank you to Alan Thomas, Peter Mullaney, Michael Talbot and Brian Morrissey for their invaluable assistance to our Pro David Hayes. Saturday coaching will continue this Saturday at 3pm. If your child is aged 6 and over bring them along. All equipment is provided. FUNDRAISING SCRAMBLE MIXED FOURBALL TEAM

Our Mixed 4ball team are representing Munster in the Finals of the All Ireland Mixed 4ball on September 6th at Dundalk Golf Club. To help pay for travelling costs we are having a 9h scramble on Wednesday September 3rd. Shotgun start 6pm.  €10 entry fee, includes finger food in the bar afterwards. All donations go towards helping cover Mixed 4ball team costs.

We have no Youngones for the next two weeks, our Presidents Scramble is on this Wednesday and the following Wednesday we have our Fundraising Scramble for our Mixed Fourball team. We will be back on Wednesday 10^th Sept.

We had our 60.com fifth outing of this year in Dundrum Golf Club on Wednesday 20^th Aug. We had a full timesheet – indeed we could not facilitate all who wanted to play. Dundrum was in excellent condition and a really great test of golf. The foursomes are attracting large numbers each Friday morning despite the early start. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes with a shotgun start at 9 am. After the golf everyone returns to the clubhouse for morning coffee.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Our new golfers have had a really good stretch of sunny weather and consequently they can be seen on our course or in the practice area on a regular basis. The scrambles have been great as they introduce them to other members and they also learn course etiquette and rules. Congratulations to Owen Young who was winner of the Atec nine hole competition with a score of 22 points . Well done also to Sarah Younge who won the nine hole Get into Golf competition with a score of 18 points.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
Our next Social Scramble is scheduled for Sunday Sept 21 with a shotgun start at 4pm.

LOTTO RESULTS

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 22^nd August. The numbers drawn were 13, 20, 24 and 28. The jackpot was €8,400, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €8,500 for the next draw. We had no three match 3 winners. Many thanks for your support of our club Lotto. All funds are directed to course improvement projects All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
