OPEN WEEK 2025

The next big week for the club is our Autumn Open Week taking place from Monday 22^nd – Sunday 28^th September. We have a great variety of competitions to choose from and the timesheet is open for bookings! Thank you to all our Open Week sponsors we appreciate your continued support.

MIXED FOURBALL TEAM

Our Mixed fourball team travelled to Dundalk last Thursday to represent Munster and our club in the All Ireland Mixed Fourball Quarter finals. They received a very warm welcome in Dundalk Golf Club. On Saturday morning they faced Belvoir Park Golf Club and unfortunately were beaten 3 – 1. Our team was Declan Walsh & June James, Eamon Keane & Anne Heneberry, Matt Curran & Theresa Guiry and Des Cleary & Rachel Kiely and substitutes Liam Hansbury & Teresa Hayes.

Our players were wonderful ambassadors for the club, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts. They received numerous messages of support from club members before and after the competition, which were greatly appreciated. Thank you to team managers Patrick Cumiskey, Carmel O’Brien, and Rachel Kiely for their dedication, hard work, and commitment throughout the campaign.

FUNDRAISING SCRAMBLE MIXED FOURBALL TEAM

We held a scramble on Wednesday 3^rd September to raise funds for our Mixed Fourball team who travelled to Dundalk for the All-Ireland Quarter Finals. Thank you to everyone who supported by playing in the scramble or giving donations.

PAST LADY CAPTAINS/PRESIDENTS

Our annual Past and present Lady Captains and Presidents two-person team competition took place on Sunday and we welcomed lots of visitors along with members who enjoyed a lovely afternoon of golf followed by delicious food afterwards thanks to Tom and his team. This competition was kindly sponsored by Betty O’Brien.

SOUTH MUNSTER SENIORS

We had the South Munster Seniors here last Wednesday with a busy timesheet for their third outing to our club this year. 1^st Terence Walsh Mahon GC (19) 37pts, 2^nd Eamonn Moore (20) 36pts B9, 3^rd Conor Burke (13) 36pts, 4^th Robert Fitzgerald (9) 33pts.

ALLIANZ IRISH GOLFERS OFFICERS CHALLENGE

Our Captain Edward Moynihan, Lady Captain Bernie Lynch and Chairperson John Condon travelled to Cork Golf Club last week for the Allianz Golfsure/Irish Golfers Officers Challenge. While they did not qualify for the National Final, they enjoyed a lovely round of golf and evening at Cork Golf Club. Thank you to all the organisers.

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a great turnout for our Pre Junior Competition last Sunday. Scoring was inspired with the popular Leo Cunnage taking the honours with a brilliant 30pts to win by 4 from Caoimhe Byrne. Third was Sam McCarthy followed closely by Charlotte Sullivan both on 25pts. It was fantastic to see a packed clubhouse, thanks to all the parents for their help and support. Our next tournament is taking place on Sunday 28^th September. It is a team event with a shotgun start at 4.45pm. Please enter your name on the timesheet and David will draw teams. Everyone will tee off at 4.45pm with a presentation to follow.

Thanks again to our helpers last Saturday. Alan O’Donnell, Michael Talbot, Grace Hayes and Craig Susdorf offered invaluable assistance again. Junior lessons will continue for two more weeks ending on Saturday 20^th September.

UNITED FRIENDS FOR EDUCATION CLASSIC

We were proud to host the UFFE Golf Classic once again on Saturday, welcoming a fantastic turnout of visitors to our club. It was a wonderful day of golf, with players enjoying both our beautiful course and clubhouse facilities. UFFE does amazing work in Africa—building schools, classrooms, and libraries that provide life-changing educational opportunities for children. Thank you on behalf of UFFE to everyone who participated, volunteered, or donated. Your support helps make a real difference.

We are delighted to announce the Final Pairings for the Lady Belle Scotch Foursomes (Men) 2025 John Dalton & Gary Shepard will play Gerard Raher and Daniel Raher.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
Our next Social Scramble is scheduled for Sunday Sept 21. These scrambles are great fun and a great way to meet other members in the club. All members are eligible to play including juveniles. Booking has opened. Just go online and book your place. We would love to see you there.

GET INTO GOLF 2025

Our Get into Golf group both ladies and men are totally immersed in our club at this stage playing regularly each week. The Get into Golf nine-hole competition and the ATEC nine hole are ideal for our new golfers. Well done and congratulations to Tereza Cyprianova on winning the Get into Golf 
nine hole competition with 14 pts.

GET INTO GOLF REFRESHER LESSONS
Our PGA Professional David Hayes has commenced these lessons with our Get into Golf ladies and will continue next week. These lessons are invaluable at this stage and mean more to the ladies as they have been practicing on the golf course over the summer months.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 5^th September. The numbers drawn were 3, 8, 16 and 24. The jackpot was €2,000, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €2,100 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners – Mary O Donoghue and Maurice Crotty & friends who win €50 each. Many thanks for your support of our club Lotto. All funds are directed to course improvement projects All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.

BOOK SALE

Please save the date and your unwanted books for Dungarvan Golf Club’s Book Sale. It will take place in the Clubhouse on the 7th, 8th and 9th November. All funds raised will go towards our Clubhouse Lift Fundraiser. Further details to follow.
