JUNIOR NEWS

Thank you to all our helpers for their invaluable assistance at our lessons on Saturday. Our last Junior lesson for the year is this Saturday 20^th September at 3pm. It has been a very busy summer of Junior Golf and we thank our Pro David Hayes and all the volunteers for their time, energy and enthusiasm they give to our Juniors. Our next Pre Junior tournament is taking place on Sunday 28^th September. It is a team event with a shotgun start at 4.45pm. Please enter your name on the timesheet and David will draw teams. Everyone will tee off at 4.45pm with a presentation to follow.

GENTS SINGLES MATCHPLAY 2025

The Gents Singles Matchplay started in July with 30 players taking part. Congratulations to Sean O’Sullivan (6) who won the final on Sunday against DJ Kiely (13).  Thank you to Martin Lynch for sponsoring this competition.

SOCIETY 2026 BOOKING OFFER

Book your 2026 society with us before the end of December 2025 and you will receive our 2025 green fee rate, dozen crested Dungarvan Golf Club golf balls and four greenfees to use as prizes. This offer applies midweek and weekends for groups of 16 or more golfers. Call the office or email us for your preferred date.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
Our next social scramble is scheduled for this Sunday Sept 21. Shotgun start at 4pm. We have had a lot of scrambles recently and they have proven very popular. They are great social events and a great way to meet new members. Booking has opened so go online and book your place. All are welcome.

HOME ALLIANCE

The first round of the Home Alliance 2025-2026 takes place on Tuesday 14^th and Friday/Saturday 17^th/18^th of October. The Home Alliance consists of 6 competitions that take place in conjunction with the regular Tuesday and Friday/Saturday competitions. There is also a Home Alliance Captain’s Day at the end of the season which will take place on Saturday 11th April. We welcome all club members and particularly those who have not taken part in this event before to sign up, including GIG ladies who now have a handicap. The entry fee is €20.  Place your money in an envelope with your name and Home Alliance written on the outside and put the envelope in the press under the computer. The Closing Date for entries is Wednesday 8th October. You must pay your fee by the closing date if you wish to take part in the Home Alliance Competition.

YOUNGONES

The Youngones were back in action last Wednesday with a packed timesheet. 1^st Rachel Kiely (22) 18pts, 2^nd Mary Ryan (420 17pts CB, 3^rd Breid Scanlon (33) 17pts.  

60. COM

Our 60.com competition was back on Wednesday 10 Sept after a long layoff due to fundraisers and other events. We had a full timesheet on a very blustery day. The scoring was excellent. The winners were: 1^st John T Moloney 21pts, 2^nd PJ Kindregan 19pts, 3^rd Maurice Cliffe 19pts. If you’re interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

Last Friday morning we had the biggest entry in the Fun Friday Foursomes with thirteen teams. The morning was ideal for golf – mild and calm. 1^st Martin T. Landers and Kate Morrissey 33, 2^nd Tom Frost and Sarah Young 34 ½, 3^rd Denis Buckley and Mary M. Ryan 37 ½, 4^th Jim O’Mahony and Kolette Enright 38 ½. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes and it is fun. We play the back nine holes with a shotgun start at 9 am. Thanks to Tom Daly and staff for the hospitality when we arrive in to the clubhouse later. All are welcome to join us.

GET INTO GOLF 2025

Our new Get into Golf members are thoroughly enjoying their introduction to Dungarvan Golf Club. The men have an organised ‘get together’ on Thursday evenings and the ladies on Tuesday. Well done to Tereza Cyprianova on winning the nine hole Get into Golf competition with 14pts.

GET INTO GOLF REFRESHER LESSONS
Refresher lessons for our Get into Golf ladies commenced last Wednesday evening with our PGA Professional David Hayes. The feedback is hugely positive both from the participants and from David. We are so lucky to have David Hayes on site with his professional expertise. It makes a huge difference to our Get into Golf programme.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on 12^th. The numbers drawn were 2,9,11 and 26. The jackpot was €2,100, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €2,200 for the next draw. We had 2 match 3 winners – Paddy Murphy and Majella Dwane who win €50 each. All funds are directed to course improvement projects All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.

BOOK SALE

Please save the date and your unwanted books for Dungarvan Golf Club’s Book Sale. It will take place in the Clubhouse on the 7th, 8th and 9th November. All funds raised will go towards our Clubhouse Lift Fundraiser. Further details to follow.
