GOLF IRELAND REGIONAL FINALS

We were delighted to host the Golf Ireland Regional Finals of the Senior Men’s Inter- Club (Vincent Nevin Trophy), Munster Women’s Ann Heskin Trophy and Munster Women’s Challenge Trophy last Sunday. We received great feedback from Golf Ireland officials and visitors on our course, restaurant and clubhouse facilities. Congratulations to all the winning teams.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
Our next social scramble is scheduled for this Sunday Oct 12. Shotgun start at 4pm.
Booking has opened so go online and book your place between 14.30 and 15.50.
If you are new to the club, it is a great way to meet other club members. All are welcome including juveniles.

COURSE CLOSED WEDNESDAY

Our course will be closed all day for sanding this Wednesday 8^th October.

BOOK SALE

Please save the date and your unwanted books for Dungarvan Golf Club’s Book Sale. It will take place in the Clubhouse on the 7th, 8th and 9th November. All funds raised will go towards our Clubhouse Lift Fundraiser.

LADIES TRIP TO WOODENBRIDGE & BUNCLODY

A group of 28 ladies travelled to Woodenbridge on Wednesday October 1^st for golf and overnight stay in Woodenbridge Hotel. The weather was glorious and spirits were high as we headed to the first Tee box where a bucket of treats awaited us courtesy of Flahavans (Kathryn Keighery-thank you). The format was a team competition and later after a fabulous 3 course meal the winners were declared.

Plans to play a scramble in Bunclody on Thursday 2nd were abandoned due to adverse weather forecast although a few hardy players were happy to brave the elements. The outing was a resounding success and much thanks is due to our Lady Captain Bernie Lynch who organised it for us.

HOME ALLIANCE

The first round of the Home Alliance 2025-2026 takes place on Tuesday 14th and Friday/Saturday 17th/18th of October. The entry fee is €20. Place your money in an envelope with your name and Home Alliance written on the outside and put the envelope in the press under the computer. The Closing Date for entries is Tuesday 7th October. You must pay your fee by the closing date if you wish to take part in the Home Alliance Competition.

SOCIETY 2026 BOOKING OFFER

Book your 2026 society with us before the end of December 2025 and you will receive our 2025 green fee rate, dozen crested Dungarvan Golf Club golf balls and four greenfees to use as prizes. This offer applies midweek and weekends for groups of 16 or more golfers. Call the office or email us for your preferred date.

COMPETITION PURSE

The Competition Purse is being introduced, on a phased basis, when booking tee times and to pay competition fees for the following competition dates in October:
Friday October 10th to Sunday October 12th
Friday October 17th to Sunday October 19th
Friday October 24th to Sunday October 26^th

It is important to top up your Competition Purse in advance, to pay for competition entry fees. If you cancel a tee time up to 6pm on the day before the tee off, you will not be charged for the competition entry.

It was great to be back with our 60. com competition on Wednesday 1 October. We had a full time sheet and a lovely day for golf. A big congratulations to John Moran who had a hole on one on the 5th hole – always an accurate golfer. The results were: 1^st Pat McCarthy 20pts, 2^nd Jim O’Mahony 19pts, 3^rd John Moran 17pts. JUNIOR NEWS

Even though our juniors are back to school they are still fitting in time for a few holes in the evening and weekends. Keep up the practice!! FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
Wet, windy weather with yellow warnings put paid to our foursomes yet again last Friday. Hopefully we will be back this Friday (Oct 10). Shotgun start at 9 am. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes and we play the back nine holes. It is a real social event and we finish just in time for morning coffee in the clubhouse. All are welcome.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Starting this Saturday (Oct 11) the 9 hole Get into Golf ladies’ competition is scheduled for 2pm. Shorter days with failing light necessitated the move from Tuesday evening. This has been a very popular competition for our new golfers so hopefully the new day and time will suit. Congratulations to Sarah Younge on winning the 9-hole qualifying competition last Tuesday.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 3^rd October. The numbers drawn were 7, 16, 18 and 24. The jackpot was €2,400, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €2,500 for the next draw. We had three match 3 winners – Margaret Harty, Marie Fahy and Margaret Moloney – who win €34 each. All funds are directed to course improvement projects All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
