BOOK SALE SUCCESS

We are delighted with the success of our Book Sale which generated over €7000! We are thrilled with the funds raised, all of which will go towards our Clubhouse Lift Fundraiser.
A huge thank you to our incredible Book Sale Committee especially Colette O’Mahony ably assisted by Mary Gorman who brought vast experience from their teaching years in Abbeyside School. Other hard working committee members included Celia Power, Marcella McGovern, Una O’Connell, Anne Heneberry and Kolette Enright.

Thank you to all the volunteers from the Ladies, Men’s and junior clubs who gave up their time to organise and assist over the weekend. Thank you to Karen and Madeline in the office and to Antoinette and team in our restaurant who had a busy weekend with all who visited the club. Thank you to David Walsh Office Supplies, Harty & Co. Auctioneers and David Hayes for taking in books for us. Thank you to Abbeyside National School for the invaluable tables they provided.

NEW MOWER

Our new Baroness LM331 Mower arrived on Monday. The mower was purchased with Sports Capital Grant Funding. Special thank you to Pat Power for all his hard work with the grant funding application process. The second project under the Sports Grant will be the clubhouse lift which is now scheduled for early January due to the lead in time with the lift supplier. There will be some disruption in entering the clubhouse for a period of two weeks but we will manage it to the best of our ability.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

We had a very successful scramble last Sunday with a large turnout. Many thanks to Colette O’Mahony and Cait Herlihy for running the event. Thanks also to Antoinette and staff in the bar for the hospitality afterwards.

GET INTO GOLF 2025
Our new golfers are making great progress and can be seen regularly on our golf course. Congratulations to Tereza Cyprianova who won the 11 hole competition at the weekend. Well done also to Bernie Butler who won the 9 hole Get into Golf competition. Onwards and upwards for our new golfers. We are delighted with the progress they are making.

60.COM/YOUNGONES SAMARITANS FUNDRAISER

Our 60. com and Younonges will hold a 9H fundraising scramble on Wednesday 19th November for the Samaritans. All members are welcome and we hope you can support this very worthy cause. Shotgun start at 1pm with tea/coffee afterwards. The timesheet

SOCIETY OFFER 2026

Book your 2026 society with us before the end of December 2025 and you will receive our 2025 green fee rate, dozen crested Dungarvan Golf Club golf balls and four greenfees to use as prizes. JUNIOR/PRE JUNIOR COMPETITION

Our next Junior and Pre Junior competition is on Sunday 21st December. The format is Ryder Cup and our team captains are Rory McKeown & Donnchadh Callaghan. The timesheet is open for bookings and we encourage our Pre Junior and Junior Members to book in. It is a 9H competition – shotgun start at 2pm. Entry is €10 which includes food after golf.

60. COM

We had a wet and foggy day for our 60.com competition on Wednesday 4 November. Despite the heavy conditions we had a very good turnout.

The winners were: 1st  Tim Browne 20pts, 2nd   Matt Curran 20pts, 3rd   Mossie Walsh 19pts

If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
Our foursomes had to be cancelled last Friday due to a very wet morning. However, we are scheduled to be back this Friday (Nov 14). Shotgun start at 9 am. We play 9 holes of Scotch Foursomes (back nine) and are finished in time for morning coffee in the clubhouse. It is a real social event and a great way to meet other members in the club. Why not join us and have some fun.


LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 7th Nov. The numbers drawn were 9, 10, 11 and 14. The jackpot was €2,900, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €3,000 for the next draw. We had four match 3 winners – Maria Ryan, Danny Barry, Roger O Connor and Frank O Donoghue who win €25 each. All funds are directed to course improvement projects All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.

Resident Professional David has all the latest offerings from the major brands including the Qi35 from TaylorMade, M Craft putters from Mizuno and much more. As always David offers professional advice so ensure you get the most out of your game.

BRIDGE
