JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Huge congratulations to our Junior Member, Caoimhe Byrne, on winning the Golf Ireland Munster Post Primary Boys & Girls 9-Hole Schools Competition representing St. Augustine’s College — a fantastic achievement! We are delighted for you, Caoimhe!

2025 was an outstanding year for junior golf at our club, with membership numbers growing rapidly. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making it such a success. Our 2026 Junior Season has started, and we’re excited to welcome even more young players. This year, we are especially focused on encouraging more girls to get involved. Role models like Caoimhe are a huge inspiration, showing just how fun and rewarding golf can be! Girls aged 6 and up are invited to join — fun, friendship, and great experiences guaranteed!

Our Junior Golf Lessons will resume this Saturday, 11th April at 3pm. We’re really looking forward to welcoming all our enthusiastic juniors back for another great season of learning and fun. Our first 18H and 9H Junior & Pre Junior competitions are on this Tuesday 7th, a few tee times available. Junior Membership invoices have been issued via email and are also available to view and pay through your BRS account. Payments can also be made in the office if preferred.

EASTER MONDAY SCRAMBLE

We hope all our members had a lovely Easter. At the time of going to print our Easter Monday Champagne Scramble was fully booked! These bank holiday scrambles are always very popular and the good weather always helps! Our next champagne scramble will be held on Monday May 4^th with timesheet opening soon for bookings.

HOME ALLIANCE CAPTAINS DAY

The Home Alliance Captains Day is on this Saturday 11th April. Entry is €5 cash only please.
Please note that entries close on Thursday 9th April at 2pm after which a draw will take place.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

We are holding an Information meeting next Monday evening (April 13) at 7pm. There we will outline clearly the stages in our Get into Golf programme and what lies ahead for our new golfers. This meeting is open to men and women.
Lessons begin on Monday April 22 (Ladies) 11 -12 o’clock.
Tuesday April 21 (Men) 6-7pm and 7-8 pm
Wednesday April 23 (Ladies) 11 – 12 o’clock , 6 -7 pm  and 7 -8pm
Lessons will continue with our PGA Professional David Hayes for four consecutive weeks.
We are indebted to David for facilitating this and we look forward to meeting and working with our new golfers.

PERSONAL GOLF INSURANCE RENEWAL

Please contact the office if interested in taking out golf insurance. The cost is €25 for the year and policy year commenced on 1^st April.

SPRING CLASSIC

We had lovely conditions for our 60. com on Wednesday 1 April. The course is quickly returning to summer standards. The winners were: 1^st Tom Scanlon 20pts, 2^nd Rogie O’Connor 20pts, 3^rd Dave Byrne 19pts. If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting you name on our timesheet.

YOUNGONES

We held a special Youngones Easter 9H Competition last Wednesday 1^st April. Congratulations to winner Sarah Younge (38) 18pts, 2^nd Colette O’Mahony (25) 18pts, 3^rd Rachel Kiely (18) 18pts, 4^th Maria Kiersey (23) 18pts, 5^th Ann Marie O’Byrne (24) 16pts, 6^th Marie Fahey (22) 16pts, 7^th Una O’Connell (28) 15pts.  We are back again this Wednesday 8^th.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
We had a lovely sunny morning for our foursomes last Friday despite a dull start. Thanks to everyone who supports the foursomes and make it such a fun event each week.
1^st John Morgan and Martin Rousse 37, 2^nd Paul Vart and Louise Moloney 37 ¼.
We play 9 holes of Scotch Foursomes and we play the back nine holes. Shotgun start at 9 am. We are finished just in time for morning coffee in the clubhouse.  It is a social event and all are welcome.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

Our next social scramble is scheduled for next Sunday (April 12). Shotgun start at 5pm. These scrambles are open to all members including juveniles. Time sheet is open. if you would like to join us, just go online and book your place between 3.30 pm and 4.50pm.

LADIES SPRING LEAGUE

Congratulations to our Spring League winners Team Ping with 51pts – team members Louise Moloney, Colette O’Mahony, Mairead Flynn and Catherine Dwyer. Runners up were Team Dunlop with 47pts – team members Theresa Guiry, Mary Buckley, Nollaig McCarthy, Kate McNamara and Carol Walsh. Special thank you to the Youngones for kindly sponsoring our Spring League. Presentation of prizes will take place on the evening of Tuesday 7th April after our start of season scramble.

We are having a fundraising night on Thursday 9th April in aid of local athletes from Carriglea Cairde Services for the Special Olympics Summer Games 2026. There is a hamper on display in the bar which will be drawn for on that night. If any member would like to support this great cause tickets are available at the bar.

TAYLORMADE DEMO

TaylorMade Golf are coming to Dungarvan Golf Club on Tuesday 7th April for a Demo day. If you would like a free Custom Fit with a TaylorMade technician, please contact the ProShop at 058-44707. Taylormade have launched their new Qi4D Woods and irons as used by Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. Fittings are by appointment only.

LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 4^th April.  The numbers drawn were 12, 14, 17 and 21. The jackpot was €5,000, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €5,100 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner – Patrick Fahey – who wins €100. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
