SAMARITANS FUNDRAISER

We are proud to support Golf Ireland’s 2026 charity partner, Samaritans Waterford & South East, by holding a ‘Play In Green’ Open Gents/Ladies 18H Singles fundraiser on Friday 5^th June. The timesheet is open for booking, with entry fees €10 for members and €20 for visitors. Play dressed in Green, Samaritans colours, with a prize for best outfit!  We encourage all members to support this very worthwhile fundraiser.

MARY MCKENNA TROPHY

After a titanic struggle we overcame Clonmel on the first playoff hole after ending our match 5-5. We were 2/3 down going into Fridays match and we levelled the match 5-5 in a thrilling match. It was an extremely exciting and close affair, and great to come out on the winning side. Congratulations to Clonmel on two very sporting matches both home and away. I would also like to thank our supporters who stayed with us in very inclement weather conditions, you are much appreciated. Our next task now is playing the winners of Muskerry and Castlemartyr. Date to be confirmed.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Junior Membership invoices were issued in April and must now be paid in full to ensure continued access to the course. A special thank you to all our volunteers for their invaluable help with last Saturday’s golf lessons. Please note that children must be aged 6 or over to take part in the lessons. It is wonderful to see such large numbers of boys and girls attending each week. Lessons take place every Saturday from 3pm to 4pm.

To request a Junior membership form please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com. Pre Junior membership (age 6 – 12) is €82.50 and Junior (13 – 18) is €107.50.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

Our Ladies on-course practice last Monday evening with our new golfers was cancelled due to a very wet evening. Our information/ Gala evening will take place this week where we will outline the next stage of the Get into Golf programme. Our new golfers are really enthusiastic and we are looking forward to working with them.
We have fifty-seven new Get into Golf participants between men and women. We are really thankful to all members who have offered to help us and bring them out on the course. For the programme to be successful we need lots of help and support from our members as it is the ‘follow-on’ programme which helps to make a difference and maintain the numbers.

We had our second 60. com outing of 2026 in Cahir Park Golf Club on Wednesday 20 May. As usual we had a full timesheet. After lots of rain in the previous days we were lucky to have ideal weather for our outing – warm and sunny.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES
We were so lucky last Friday morning to be back in the clubhouse just before the rain started.  There is a lot to be said for an early start. Thanks to everyone who supported the event. Results: 1^st Martin Rouse and Ellen Power 33 ½, 2^nd John Nee and Margaret Keane 37 3/4 (count back from Adrian O’ Driscoll and Leslie McCutcheon). We are back again next Friday May 29. We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 22^nd May. The numbers drawn were 9, 16, 22 and 26. The jackpot was €5,700, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €5,800 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner, John Byrne, who wins €100. Please contact the office or renew on line if your €90 ticket has expired. All funds go towards our course development projects.
