SYMPATHIES

It was with great sadness we learned of the passing of Past Captain and long-standing club member Danny Barry. Danny proudly served as Club Captain in 1982 in Ballinacourty, a role that was special to him. Throughout his many years of membership, he was a loyal supporter of the club and was always generous with his time and support. Danny’s contribution to our club and his friendship will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We extend our sincere condolences to his wife Sheila, to his brother and fellow club member Paddy, and to all the family on their very sad loss.

SAMARITANS FUNDRAISER

We are proud to support Golf Ireland’s 2026 charity partner, Samaritans Waterford & South East, by holding a ‘Play In Green’ Open Gents/Ladies 18H Singles fundraiser this Friday 5^th June. It is great to see so many members booked in to play, with entry fees €10 for members and €20 for visitors – all funds go to the Samaritans. Play dressed in Green, Samaritans colours, with a prize for best men and ladies outfit!

MUNSTER CUP

Congratulations to our Munster Cup/Ann Heskin team and management on their fantastic win on Saturday at home versus Youghal Golf club. After a very tight match they won 3 to 2. Thank you to Youghal GC for a sporting match. Thank you to all the caddies and members who came out to support our brilliant team.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Junior Membership invoices were issued in April and must now be paid in full to ensure continued access to the course. To request a Junior membership form please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com. Pre Junior membership (age 6 – 12) is €82.50 and Junior (13 – 18) is €107.50.

Thank you to all our volunteers for their invaluable help with last Saturday’s golf lessons. Please note that children must be aged 6 or over to take part in the lessons. It is wonderful to see such large numbers of boys and girls attending each week. Lessons take place every Saturday from 3pm to 4pm. During the summer, on selected Saturdays after lessons, we will be taking our Pre Junior/Junior members out on the course to learn course rules, etiquette and safety on the course. Only paid-up members can avail of these on course practise sessions.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

Our clubhouse was packed to capacity last Monday night as we held our Gala/ Information night for our new golfers. John Dempsey and Colette Power lead the meeting supported by the members of our Get into Golf committee. There was a great buzz of enthusiasm among the large cohort of new golfers as they listened intently to the terms and conditions of temporary membership of Dungarvan Golf Club. Many thanks to Tom Daly and staff who provided the hospitality and made the evening such a social event. We are continuing with the on-course practice for the next few weeks. We are indebted to our members who come out and give their time to our new golfers. This is such an important element of the programme.

We had a scorching hot day for our 60. com competition um Wednesday 27 May. The course was in fantastic condition. LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 29^th May. The numbers drawn were 3, 4, 8 and 25. The jackpot was €5,800, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €5,900 for the next draw. We had one match 3 winner, James Campbell, who wins €100. Please contact the office or renew on line if your €90 ticket has expired. All funds go towards our course development projects. Lotto tickets can be purchased on our website or in the clubhouse.
