PGA PRO DAVID HAYES TOURNAMENT

Our PGA Professional, David Hayes, is proud to celebrate his 30th anniversary at Dungarvan Golf Club. To mark this remarkable milestone and recognise three decades of dedicated service to our members, David is hosting a special Anniversary Golf Tournament this Saturday, 11^th July. The timesheet is almost fully booked – thank you to everyone who has entered! We look forward to making this a memorable occasion for all involved.

The competition is a members only three person scramble, with an entry fee of €10 per person. There will be some fantastic prizes to be won. The presentation of prizes will take place at 8:30pm, and all prize winners must be present in order to receive their prizes. The celebrations will continue afterwards with live music from the fantastic Padraic Di Fusco.

It promises to be a wonderful day celebrating David’s incredible achievement and another great occasion for Dungarvan Golf Club. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

The presentation of prizes for Open Fortnight, Samaritans competition and various Ladies Competitions are taking place Tuesday 6^th July at 7.30pm in the club house. We hope all prize winners can attend.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

Our Fred Daly team have reached the Munster East Final after a comprehensive victory over Thurles. We played very well with a score of 3.5 – 1.5 to set up a final in Tramore versus Fermoy on 3^rd August. Our Inter-Club team finished 2^nd in the recent event last Wednesday. Unfortunately, due to the late Thurles withdrawal only one team qualified and we finished 2md.

We had a great turnout for lessons last Saturday. Thank you to Nollaig, Grace, Rachel, Alan and Craig for their invaluable assistance to our Pro David Hayes. There will be no lessons this Saturday 11^th. Lessons resume on Saturday 18^th July at 3pm. All Welcome.

Due to the phenomenal interest in our junior and pre-junior membership, no more junior applications are being accepted at this time. A waiting list is available for new applicants.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

There is a great sense of energy and enthusiasm among our Get into Golf participants of 2026. They are now free to go on the course and put into practice all they have learned from our PGA Professional David Hayes. We still have a specific time slot booked for them – Monday evening for the ladies and Tuesday evening for the men. Many thanks to our members who give up their time to help and are so willing to mark cards for them for handicap purposes. It is a pleasure to work with our new golfers and see them improve.

The good weather is really adding to the numbers on our golf course and last Friday morning was no exception despite the early start of 9 am. The scoring was exceptionally close.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

We had a full timesheet for the scramble last Sunday. It was lovely to see some of our juniors participate and also some of our new Get into Golf players.
A huge thanks to Kolette Enright and Patricia Butler for running the scramble and doing it so efficiently. Thanks also to Tom Daly and staff in the bar for the hospitality afterwards. It really adds to the social side of the event.

PLAY IN PINK

Our timesheet is packed for this Tuesdays Play In Pink Open Ladies Waltz, great to see so many members and visitors supporting this annual fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute. We are also holding a Play in Pink Open Singles on Friday 10^th July with tee times still available for bookings.

SOUTH MUNSTER SENIORS

We are delighted to welcome the South Munster Seniors to Dungarvan Golf Club this Wednesday, 8th July. There are only a limited number of spaces remaining. With the course in excellent condition and the weather forecast looking ideal for golf, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors from across the Munster region for what promises to be a fantastic day of golf.

60. COM
On Wednesday 3rd July we had our first 60. com competition on a Friday. This was to facilitate some Junior Competitions which took place on the previous Wednesday. The conditions for our 60. com were sweltering and brought out a full contingent of golfers. 1st Mossie Walsh 22pts, 2nd Roger O’Connor 19pts, 3rd Jim O’Mahony 19pts   If you are interested in social golf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

UFFE CHARITY CLASSIC

We welcomed the United Friends for Education once again this year for their annual classic at our club. The day was a huge success with a full timesheet, glorious playing conditions and a fantastic atmosphere in the clubhouse. Thank you to all our members who supported this classic.

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 3^rd July. The numbers drawn were 7, 11, 20 and 27.   

The jackpot was €6,300, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,400 for the next draw.
