CAPTAINS PRIZE

The Captain’s Prize, kindly presented by Patrick Cumiskey will be played from Friday the 26^th June to Sunday the 28^th June 2026, and all eligible members are invited to participate. Members are kindly requested to enter one of the qualifying rounds on Friday the 26^th June or Saturday the 27^th June 2026.  

Sunday’s final round will be a shotgun start at 12.00. The leading three players will tee off on hole 1. The next best three ball will be on hole 2 and so on. There will be two pairs of three playing off each of the par fives. This allows for a total of 66 qualifiers. The time sheet for Sunday’s final round will be posted after 9pm on Saturday the 27^th of June.  

Entry for the competition will close at 12 midnight on Wednesday 24^th June 2025. A Captain’s prize to Ladies will also be played on Friday and Saturday with first prize presented by Captain Patrick. Full details of the format have been emailed to members. The Presentation of prizes will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday 28^th June at 7pm. Members, partners and family are cordially invited to attend the presentation on the night.

CAPTAIN 9H SCRAMBLE

The Captain’s 9 Hole scramble will take place on Wednesday 24^th June at 5.30pm. The scramble is a shotgun start at 5.30pm sharp. Entry for this event is €10 and €5 for juniors and members can enter via the members booking facility. Entries for this event will close at 6pm on Tuesday the 23^{rd of} June. Prizegiving and finger food will be provided in the clubhouse after finish of play.

PGA PRO DAVID HAYES TOURNAMENT

Save the date! Our PGA Professional, David Hayes, is proud to celebrate his 30th anniversary at Dungarvan Golf Club. To mark this remarkable milestone and recognise three decades of service to our members, David is hosting an Anniversary Golf Tournament on Saturday, 11^th July. Join us in celebrating David’s contribution to the club and the game of golf over the past 30 years. We look forward to making this a memorable occasion for all involved.

The competition format is a members only three-person scramble, with an entry fee of €10 per person. There will be some amazing prizes to be won on the day. Presentation of prizes will take place at 8:30pm, followed by music from the fantastic Padraic Di Fusco. We hope all our members will support what promises to be a great day of golf and an enjoyable night of celebrations as we honour David’s 30 years of service to our club.

MARY MCKENNA TEAM

Our Mary McKenna team had a great win on Tuesday 16^th against Castlemartyr. They won the second leg 4 1/2 to 1/2, so won overall 7 1/2 to 2 1/2, which means they won 4 games and halved one yesterday having won 3-2 in Castlemartyr last week. They were delighted with the win against a very fancied Castlemartyr side. Details on next round to be confirmed. Congratulations to all the team and management.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

The timesheet is open for Wednesday 24^th June – 9H Pre Junior and 18H Open Junior Competitions. This is sure to fill up fast! You must be a fully paid-up member to play. Contact the office to pay subscription. There is also the option to play in the Captains 9H Scramble on Wednesday 24th June – shotgun start at 5.30pm. Both competitions are €5 each to enter.

Thank you to all our volunteers for their invaluable assistance to our PRO David Hayes at last Saturday’s golf lessons. Please note that children must be aged 6 or over to take part in the lessons. It is wonderful to see such large numbers of boys and girls attending each week. Lessons take place every Saturday from 3pm to 4pm. Junior Membership invoices were issued in April and must now be paid in full to ensure continued access to the course. To request a Junior membership form please email office@dungarvangolfclub.com. Pre Junior membership (age 6 – 12) is €82.50 and Junior (13 – 18) is €107.50.

GET INTO GOLF 2026

Phase one of the programme is over and now our new members receive their Golf Ireland number and become temporary members of Dungarvan Golf Club. There is a great buzz among our new golfers with some of them already submitting cards for handicaps. There is a special time slot for the ladies each Monday evening and another for the men on Tuesday evenings. Now is the time to get out on the course and practice all you learned from our PGA Professional  David Hayes. To improve you need to practice and play your golf.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

Unfortunately we had a heavy band of rain over the South last Friday morning which put paid to our foursomes. We won’t be playing the foursomes again until Friday July 3.
We play 9 holes of Scotch Foursomes and we play the back nine holes. Shotgun start at 9 am. We are finished just in time for morning coffee in the clubhouse.
All are welcome.
From all of the supporters of the Fun Friday Foursomes we extend our congratulations and best wishes to Patrick Cumisky our Captain and whose Captains Prize is taking place this weekend. Patrick was a ‘regular’ on Fridays when he joined our club and still supports the competition when time allows. We appreciate your time and support Patrick and wish you well for the weekend.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE
Our next social scramble is scheduled for Sunday July 5.  These scrambles are great social events and an ideal way to meet other members. Shotgun start at 4.30 pm. Booking has opened. Just go online and book your place. All are welcome.

We had our third 60. com outing of 2026 in Thurles Golf Club on Wednesday June 17. YOUNGONES

We had no competition last Wednesday and many of our ladies played in the 18H Waltz. This week we have the Captains 9H Scramble, we wish Captain Patrick the very best for his Captains Prize weekend. Youngones 9H competition will be back Wednesday 3^rd July at a later time of 1.40pm onwards to facilitate the Munster Boys Inter Club competition taking place.

Declan & Niall Walsh have won their match in the Men’s Scotch Foursome’s beating Noel Brennan and Gerry Walsh -2/1 – in a very close match. 

Remember all first round matches must be played/decided/conceded on or before the 30th of June, if not they will be decided by “coin toss”.

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday (19-06-2026). The numbers drawn were 5, 9, 11 and 24.   

The jackpot was €6,100, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,200 for the next draw.

We had two match 3 winners, Eileen O Donovan and Michael Curran, who win €50 each.
