PGA PRO DAVID HAYES TOURNAMENT

On Saturday, Dungarvan Golf Club celebrated a milestone as our PGA Professional, David Hayes, marked his 30th anniversary with the club. To commemorate the occasion, David hosted a special Anniversary Golf Scramble in glorious playing conditions. With a fully booked timesheet and over 180 members taking to the fairways, it was a fantastic day of golf and celebration. In recognition of David’s commitment to the club and especially to the development of Junior Golf over the past three decades, Junior Captain James O’Donnell presented him with Honorary Life Membership of Dungarvan Golf Club.

The celebrations continued into the evening, with a wonderful atmosphere in the clubhouse. It was great to see so many members in attendance, enjoying the fantastic entertainment provided by Padraic Di Fusco and his band. Congratulations to all of the prize winners on the day. David generously provided a superb selection of prizes, which were greatly appreciated by all who received them.

LADY CAPTAINS PRIZE

The Lady Captain’s prize kindly presented by Carmel Fox will be played on Saturday 25^th July and Sunday 26^th July 2026. Entries will close on Thursday 23^rd July at 5pm and the draw will be posted on the club website by 8.00 pm approx. Two 18 Hole stroke rounds will be played and the aggregate score over the two rounds will determine the overall winner. There will be no play off. There will also be an 18H S/F competition for non-eligible members or those unable to play both days, on Saturday afternoon July 25^th, a 9 Hole S/F qualifier on Saturday 25^th and a 9 Hole GIG S/F competition will be held on the Sunday afternoon. This competition is open to all Get into Golf players who have not previously entered an 18H S/F competition. A putting competition for new GIG members (2026) will be held on Sunday afternoon at approx. 3 pm. Entry fee €2. Please add your name to the list in locker room if you wish to take part in the putting competition. All members and their families are invited to the presentation at 8pm on Sunday 26^th July.

LADY CAPTAINS SCRAMBLE

The Lady Captains scramble takes place on Wed 22^nd July with a shotgun start at 6pm. Entry is €10 and €5 for juniors. Entries close at 6pm on Tues 21^st. Prizegiving and finger food will be provided in the clubhouse after finish of play. We hope you can join us for what is always a lovely evening of golf.

BANK HOLIDAY CHAMPAGNE SCRAMBLE

The timesheet is open for our always popular Bank Holiday Scramble on Monday 3^rd August. This is a 3 Person Champagne Scramble with visitor’s entry fee €25. Book online!

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

This Wednesday we have two Junior Competitions taking place, Pre Junior 9H and Open Junior 18H, and only a few spaces remaining!  Junior lessons are on every Saturday at 3pm, come along and enjoy an hour of fun and skills. Equipment provided. You don’t have to be a member to avail of lessons.

Due to the phenomenal interest in our junior and pre-junior membership, no more junior applications are being accepted at this time. A waiting list is available for new applicants.

LADIES CLUB OUTING TO LEE VALLEY

The annual club outing took place on Sunday 12^th July in glorious sunshine. Spirits were high as we took to the fairways. Golf was followed by a delicious meal in the restaurant and finally the winners were announced by our Captain Carmel Fox. Prizes from David Hayes Pro shop in Dungarvan Golf Club. GET INTO GOLF 2026

David Hayes our PGA Professional celebrated his 30th anniversary in Dungarvan Golf Club last weekend. David has played a huge role in the success of our Get into Golf programme since its inauguration back in 2016. On behalf of all our Get into Golf ladies and men we thank him most sincerely and wish him and Grace the very best going forward.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

It is great to see so many play in the foursomes on Friday mornings. Conditions were ideal for golf last Friday and the scoring was very close.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

Our next Social Scramble is scheduled for Sunday next Jul 19. Shotgun start at 4.30pm. These scrambles are open to all members including juveniles. They are a great social event and a great way to meet other members of the club. If you would like to join us, just go online and book your place.

We had a wonderful sunny day for our 60. com on Wednesday 8 July. The course was hopping with multiple competitions taking place – the South Munster Seniors, the Young Ones and ourselves. The winners were: 1^st Jack Elstead 21pts, 2^nd   Martin Landers 19pts, 3^rd John Dalton 19pts  If you are interested in social gulf, and are over 60 years of age, then join us any Wednesday by putting your name on our timesheet.

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 10^th July. The numbers drawn were 2, 10, 27 and 28. The jackpot was €6,400, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,500 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners, Colette Power and Noreen Barry, who win €50 each.
