LADY CAPTAINS PRIZE

The Lady Captain’s prize kindly presented by Carmel Fox will be played this Saturday 25^th July and Sunday 26^th July 2026. It is wonderful to see that the timesheet is full for Carmel’s special weekend, which is a lovely reflection of the support she has received throughout her year as Lady Captain. Carmel has worked tirelessly in her role, giving generously of her time, energy and enthusiasm to support the ladies’ section. With beautiful weather forecast, we know it will be a fantastic weekend of golf and celebration. Best of luck to Carmel and to everyone competing over the weekend.

Entries will close on Thursday 23^rd July at 5pm and the draw will be posted on the club website by 8.00 pm approx. Two 18 Hole stroke rounds will be played and the aggregate score over the two rounds will determine the overall winner. There will be no play off.

There is an 18H S/F competition for non-eligible members or those unable to play both days, on Saturday afternoon July 25^th, a 9 Hole qualifier/Get Into Golf on Saturday 25^th.

A putting competition for new GIG members (2026) will be held on Sunday afternoon at approx. 3 pm. Entry fee €2. Please add your name to the list in locker room if you wish to take part in the putting competition. All members and their families are invited to the presentation at 8pm on Sunday 26^th July.

LADY CAPTAINS SCRAMBLE

The Lady Captain’s Scramble will take place this Wednesday, 22^nd July, with a shotgun start at 6.00pm. Entry is €10 for adults and €5 for juniors. Entries will close at 6.00pm on Tuesday 21^st July. Prizegiving and finger food will be provided in the clubhouse after play.

The timesheet is open for our always popular Bank Holiday Scramble on Monday 3^rd August. This is a 3 Person Champagne Scramble with visitor’s entry fee €25. Book online!

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

This Wednesday, 22^nd July, we have two Junior Competitions taking place: the Pre-Junior 9-Hole Competition and the Open Junior 18-Hole Competition. There are only a few spaces remaining, so be sure to get your entry in! Our Junior Lessons take place every Saturday at 3.00pm. Come along and enjoy an hour of fun, learning and skill development. Equipment is provided, and you do not have to be a club member to take part.

Due to the phenomenal interest in our junior and pre-junior membership, no more junior applications are being accepted at this time. A waiting list is available for new applicants.

We have entered this competition which will be played in Cork Golf Club on Monday 7th September. The club qualifier which is a scotch Foursomes will be played on Tues 28^th July and is now open for booking.

The winning pair who will represent the Club must satisfy certain handicap requirements.
Handicap Index on the day of the club qualifier must be no higher than 30 (step down not allowed)

GET INTO GOLF 2026

We are thrilled with the enthusiasm of our new Get into Golf players of 2026. Each Monday and Tuesday evenings we have special times for our Get into Golf ladies and men. We would like to thank our members who are so generous with their time and come out and help our new golfers. Some of them already have handicaps while many others are working on them. We hope to run refresher lessons for them in late August run by our PGA Professional David Hayes.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

Yet again we had glorious weather for our foursomes last Friday morning. Our numbers continue to increase each Friday for this event. We play nine holes of Scotch Foursomes and we play the back nine. It is a real social event and an ideal way to meet other club members. We are in just in time for morning coffee in the clubhouse. Many thanks to Tom Daly and staff for providing the hospitality.

SUNDAY SOCIAL SCRAMBLE

Our social scrambles organised and run by our Get into Golf Committee are a great success this year. They attract a huge entry and are a real social event. Many thanks to Anne Heneberry and Carmel Fox (our Lady Captain) who ran the event last Sunday. A huge thanks also to Tom Daly and staff who looked after the players later.

We enjoyed glorious weather last Wednesday and played the back 9H while the juniors played the front 9H. LOTTO

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 17^th July. The numbers drawn were 7, 19, 24 and 27. The jackpot was €6,500, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,600 for the next draw. We had two match 3 winners, Patrick McGovern and Martin Bolger, who win €50 each.
