SCRATCH MATCHPLAY

The Men’s Committee are now taking entries for a Gents Scratch Matchplay tournament. The event will be Singles Matchplay played from the Blue Tees with all participants playing off Scratch handicap. If interested, please put your Entry Fee of €20 in an envelope with your name and titled Scratch Matchplay in the Gents Scorebox in Locker Room. Entries close on Friday 7th August. The Draw will be made on Saturday 8th August with the final taking place in September with the other Matchplay Finals.

JUNIOR GOLF NEWS

We remind all our Pre Juniors and Juniors of course rules and etiquette while on the course and in the clubhouse. Non-Junior members wishing to play our course must present a Golf Ireland member card in order to play and pay for greenfees i.e. they must be a member of another Golf Club to access our course.

This Wednesday, 5^th August, we have two Junior Competitions taking place: Pre-Junior 9-Hole Competition and an Open Junior 18-Hole Competition. There are only a few spaces remaining, so be sure to get your entry in! Congrats to last week’s prize winners. It is great to see so many juniors getting involved and playing competitions.

We had a large turnout for our Junior Lessons last Saturday, thank you to all our volunteers for their invaluable assistance. Come along and enjoy an hour of fun, learning and skill development. Equipment is provided, and you do not have to be a club member to take part.

Due to the phenomenal interest in our junior and pre-junior membership, no more junior applications are being accepted at this time. A waiting list is available for new applicants. SILVER & BRONZE REGIONAL FINAL

Congratulations to Michelle Mernin, Silver Medal Winner and Liza Black, Bronze Medal Winner who compete on Friday 11^th September ins the regional final in Charleville Golf Club. The All-Ireland Final takes place in Headfort Golf Club, Co. Meath on Wed 30^th Sept. Best of luck ladies!

GET INTO GOLF 2026

Both the ladies and men are very enthusiastic about their golf with a large number already with handicaps. It is great to see them enter the social scrambles where they meet with established players and learn the rules and etiquette of the game. We continue with practice for them each Monday and Tuesday evening where they continue to meet and improve their game. Some of the ladies are entering the special Get into Golf competition and the men can enter the ATEC nine-hole competition. All in all, there are plenty opportunities for our new golfers to improve and move forward.

Welcome to Dungarvan Sign (funded by the Fun Friday Foursomes)
This sign was erected near the men’s first tee box a few years ago. Recently it was
looking very ‘tired’ with the paint bubbling and peeling. However, two very generous members – Michael and John – took on the task of stripping, cleaning, treating and painting the sign giving generously of their time. They did an amazing job. Well done and thanks.

FUN FRIDAY FOURSOMES

We had the biggest number of participants so far for our foursomes last Friday. Many thanks for all your support. Competition was keen and scoring was very close.

We had a great mix of established players, new golfers and juveniles enter this scramble last Sunday afternoon. We had a full timesheet which generated a great buzz around the clubhouse. Many thanks to Ann Moloney who helped take in the entries and to run the scramble.

The continuing good weather helped to bring a fulltime sheet to our 60. com competition on Wednesday 29 July. The course conditions were excellent with lots of run on the ball. The winners were: 1^st Tom Power 25pts, 2^nd Jimmy Weymss 22pts, 3^rd Paul Vart 20pts

We had our weekly Lotto Draw on Friday 31^st July. The numbers drawn were 9, 14, 15 and 17. The jackpot was €6,700, and there was no winner. The jackpot is €6,800 for the next draw.
